Anaïs had never once in her adult and immortal life been caught in an embarrassing situation till the moment Jacky rushed out of the guest bedroom with her purse slung over her shoulder and an unsuspecting smile on her face. The instant she saw them, still nude and looking slightly defeated, her smile turned into a wide-eyed look of surprise. She blinked as if she couldn’t quite believe what she was seeing and turned every shade of red imaginable.

“Oh shit,” she gasped as she turned around and tried to make her legs move.

She was frozen to the spot.

Ryder, on the other hand, had begun to chuckle while he nonchalantly picked his shirt up from the floor and handed it to Anaïs so she could slip it on. He pulled his jeans on without bothering with his boxers, which he hardly remembered removing, and told Jacky it was safe to turn around.

“I’m sorry,” she repeated twice before finally turning back to them, “I didn’t know, I

didn’t think, I was just-”

“My fault entirely,” Ryder chuckled.

“No I-”

“No really, we have a perfectly good bedroom and I dragged her out here and-”

“Ry, please, spare her the details,” Anaïs groaned.

The shirt was long enough to keep her covered but she still felt entirely exposed. She barely knew Jacky after all and now the woman probably thought…

“It was just a surprise,” Jacky laughed, “I mean, god, warn a girl will you? I was just off to do some shopping and what do I find? A couple of naked people.”

“Shopping? What for?” Ryder asked, catching onto Jacky’s underlying nervousness and correctly guessing that it had nothing to do with what she had seen.

Jacky hesitated before answering. She knew she couldn’t tell him yet, he would never go along with her plan, so she had to come up with a convincing excuse.

“How can a girl come to Paris and not shop?”

“Jacky you aren’t one to-”

“Oh let me act on this whim will you? Besides, you guys seem to have some unfinished business,” Jacky chuckled as she walked to the door.

Her laugh almost betrayed her. She had never been a very good liar. She was too transparent; too honest. It was something she would need to work on for tonight; that was for sure.

“I hate you,” Anaïs stated as soon as Jacky was gone.

Her cheeks were still burning from the embarrassment of being caught nude and the sexy grin he threw her way didn’t help at all. There was the slightest hint of dimple when he smiled and it was such a contrast with the bad boy look of him that it made her belly tighten at the sight of it.
