*Jade's P.O.V*
"You coming?" I asked Alex while unbuckling. He smiled and nodded as we got out of the car. I requested Alex if I could go meet my parents and Brooklyn before we went to Los Angeles. And he agreed today.
Alex held my hand, walking to the porch. Soon the door opened to reveal Brooklyn who immediately brought a smile on his face. "Jade!!" He said pulling me into a hug as Alex chuckled behind us. "Mum, Jade's here." Brooklyn announced as Alex and I went in. We greeted my parents and I went over with mum to her room while my dad, Alex and Brooklyn stayed in the living room.
"I'm so happy for you, my dear" mum said with a smile on her face. Her eyes showed happiness for Alex and I. "Thank you, mum." I replied. She's someone I can always rely on. No matter what. "But I'm scared. scared of what will happen next in life." I admitted. Mum stayed silent for a while before she spoke up again.
"Sweetheart, you know when your grandma was alive.. she used to tell me to always turn off the lights before I slept. Even though I was afraid of the darkness." She said. I looked up at her, curious to what she is trying to say. "I didn't listen to her, I thought the light was my only safety at night. Then one day, I tried to sleep with my lights turned off. I slept more peacefully." She continued. "In your case, the light was Harry.." She said. My heart raced at her mentioning Harry. "I know you think you feel unarmed without him. You feel scared. You feel unprotected." She spoke the truth. "But you have to know that when life wants to lead you to a better sleep, you have to turn the light off and embrace your fears."
I nodded, completely emotionless. She's right. Maybe turning off the light is my armor to safety.
"Now let's go have some food together before you leave us for a loooong time with your beloved Alexander" she laughed. I gave her a weak smile and got up, following her downstairs.

"Promise, you'll call." Brooklyn demanded. I nodded. "Promise." "Promise you'll make sure you stay happy." He continued. I chuckled and nodded again. "Promise. Now will you let us go or we'll miss the flight." I said. Brooklyn laughed before looking at me with a sympathetic smile. "One last thing. Promise me you'll forget him and move on without guilt." He hugged me, directing 'him' as Harry.. I took a deep breath and let him go. "I promise."
And with that Alex took my hand and we left the house, driving to the airport. Once again, leaving a home and moving to a new one. Away from family. It's odd how till today, I still feel unknown with Alex. It's been almost a year since I've started feeling comfortable around him yet still.. he feels like no one.
Sighing, I closed my eyes and laid back on the passenger seat as Alex drove. "Sleepy?" I heard him ask. I briefly nodded before I felt him hold my hand with one of his and rub circles on the back.
After what felt like hours, I was woken up by Alex calling out my name. I rubbed my eyes and yawned and got out of the car as Alex took out our luggages and we walked inside the airport. We checked in our luggages as Alex was getting out boarding passes.
I made sure to keep my cap on and let my hair down. I've been lucky enough to not be the center of attention by the paps and get my face plastered all around media as "Harry's ex wife." It was awful when I left him. He cried in public and I had to stay home so the paps won't find me outside. I saw Harry's face on possibly all of the social media. I was getting messages from his fans.. extremely negative messages that I decided to deactivate all my social media and only kept a very private Facebook account for family and friends.
"Let's go" Alex spoke up and placed his arm around my waist as we walked to our gate. "Now, what do you want to eat?" He asked as soon as I sat on one of the benches. "Um, just coffee should be fine. I'm not hungry." I replied him. "Alright. Caramel Latte or cappuccino?" He asked. "Vanilla latte.." I said out of the two choices. He nodded and went to the cafe. Harry used to never ask me what drink I wanted. He always knew...
"Flight number 992. Boarding now." A voice on the intercom spoke. Alex and I got up showing our boarding passes and took our seats in the plane. I heard Alex chuckle as he sat down next to me. I looked over at him with a questioned look. "What's wrong?" I asked. "Remember the first time we met?" He said making me burst out in laughter. "Don't even start" I warned him. "Are you fine, Miss? And you nodded. Oh my god, Jade." He laughed. "Stop it, Alex" I slapped his arm softly and whined. "Fine, fine." He said putting his hands up in surrender and then looked at me. "But you should always keep in mind, that you would never cry like that over me. I'll never make you cry like that." He said looking into my eyes with sincerity.
This was it. With that we were off to a new life. Los Angeles. Once Harry's favorite place. Chances are, fate might let us meet yet I hope not. I have to build trust in Alex and move on completely.
