"I love you, Jade Averill" he said. "I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I know you're not ready for marriage just yet, but here's a promise ring. A promise that I'll keep for the rest of my life. I'll love you the same today and tomorrow."
He slipped the ring on her finger and placed a soft kiss on her hand. "I'll make you happy again. I'll make sure he doesn't come back to ruin your life."
"Thank you, Alexander" she whispered half-heartedly with a weak smile and tears forming in her eyes. Trying to believe what he spoke.
