2 weeks later

*Jade's P.O.V*

He was buried into the dirt 2 weeks ago. He was gone in a swift second.

Little droplets of water from the clouds of pure. Each droplet is like each of us. A person isolated in the ocean of people. Flowing just like the others from one place to another. Bonding with some, extracting from some. Drifting off to new destinations.

Then comes the light, the light of hope with the selected drops evaporating into the sky leaving the unselected once again, isolated in the dark waves.
Then comes the pure bond with drops of your own. Family. Flying so high in the sky of your own but soon turning the pure white cloud into old grey hardship. Slowly dying.

True, everyone is to taste the bitterness of death. The drops fall apart back into the ocean of isolation yet some drop onto the glass, as broken as they are. Sometimes they look as if they're bonded with others on the glass, but in reality, that's an illusion of when you can't let go.

In the end, you're back in the ocean. Flowing from one place to another.

That is life. And that's how short Alex's was.

"Mommy, uncle Harry's on the TV!!" Brooklyn squealed trying to get my attention. I diverted my attention to the TV to see pictures of Harry and Kendall flashing on the screen.

"And our power couple has reunited for Christmas! Seems like Styles finally forgot his long gone ex-wife. Let's take a moment to just look at Kendall's ootd!" A woman spoke.

I took the remote and turned the tv off, with a bewildered Brooklyn looking at me afterwards.

"Mommy, why did you turn it off?" He asked me. I sighed before pulling a small smile on my face.

"Mommy's head is hurting, the volume was too loud, love," I lied to him, making up an excuse.

"Okay," he said but it seemed like something was going on in his head.

"Come here," I told him extending my arms. He walked over to me and embraced me. I pulled him and sat him on my lap, wrapping my arms around his back so he could sit.

"What are you thinking about?" I asked him playfully.

"Are we going to go back to uncle Harry?" He asked softly, playing with his fingers. That struck me.

"Do you miss him?" I asked him instead. And he simply nodded.

"Brooklyn, love. Sometimes, not everyone we love stay with us all the time," I told him. Maybe he'll understand.

"So we won't go to uncle Harry?" He asked again.

"How about we go meet grandma and grandpa for Christmas?" I asked him, changing the subject.

He seemed to have let it go and nodded happily.

"I can finally see grandma and grandpa!!" He squealed. With that he left my lap, in complete happiness and ran back to the room to sleep.

"You planned to go meet your parents for Christmas?" Gemma asked, as she approached and sat on the couch next to mine.

"I wanted to talk to you about that," I said. She nodded for me to go on.

"I want to move to Georgia, this time permanently without being with anyone," I said.

"Wait, what?" Gemma asked bewildered.

"Yeah, I want to go meet my parents and then buy a house near my brother and my sister in law's house. I want to truly move on. I need to work and earn for Brooklyn and myself..." I said.

"And Brooklyn needs a proper future. Though I know Brooklyn would never have a father, I want to be both for him. I've wasted too much time wandering around and trying to solve everything. But the truth is, I'm absolutely tired of it. I... just need to move on and accept being a single mother to Brooklyn," I said truthfully.

Gemma did not say anything for a brief silence and that was making me anxious.

"So, you're just going to leave?" She asked softly.

"I'm sorry," was all I could say. She sighed at my response.

"When?" She asked a little more supportive this time.

"I don't have any details about that though. I have to contact mum and dad as well as Brooklyn. I need to know if they're willing," I replied her. She simply nodded and gave me a small smile.

"Whatever you do, just know that I'm always here for you, Jade," she said.

"Thank you, Gemma. It really means a lot," I told her. I meant every word genuinely.

"Just let me know when you make any decision," she requested as she got up. I nodded at her and she left to go to her room to sleep.

I looked over at the clock to see that it was almost 11pm, it must be around 6pm in Georgia. I scrolled through the contacts until I reached Brooklyn's contact. He will pick up surely.

It rang a few times before he actually picked up and I smiled at his voice.

"Hello?" He said.

"Brooklyn, it's me. Jade," I replied him.

"Wait, oh my god. I'm sorry, I was parking the car. Jade, how are you. And how's mini Brooklyn?" He asked excitedly.

"We're both good, what about you? How's my beautiful sister in law?" I asked him.

"Cassandra's good. I'm good too. Jade, it's been so long since you called," he said softly. I heard a door opening and then closing with the lock being turned. He just reached home.

"Yeah, I uh... wanted to talk to you about something," I told him.

"Go ahead. Is everything alright?" He asked.

"Yes, I..uh. I've been thinking about this and decided that I want to move to Georgia permanently. To start a new life with Brooklyn, for his future," I explained.

"That's wonderful, Jade!" He replied. I smiled at his enthusiasm. Mum and dad were notified about Alex's death and they informed Brooklyn shortly after a while.

"When? I'll start looking for houses. Just come now, stay with Cassandra and I so we can play with the kiddo and then you can move whenever you want. Are you looking for jobs as well?" He bombarded me with questions.

I replied him with all he asked and talked to him about the nearest flights to Georgia. It was not long when he found a flight in 2 days time. He agreed to everything so quickly. All I had to do was to meet up with the boys and girls and have a short farewell gathering.

"I'll send you the ticket via email. Just get it printed and call me when you reach Georgia. I'll inform mum and dad right now," he said.

"Thank you, Brooklyn. Will do," I told him. With that I ended the call and took a deep breath.

And now's when I forget everything. A new canvas of life. Without Alex. Just my son and I. A little broken, but still very strong.
