*Jade's P.O.V*
"Babe, there's a phone call for you." Alex said handing me my phone.
"Hello?" I spoke as I placed the leftover food from dinner in containers. "Hello, Jade." I stopped my actions. "Gemma?" I said out loud. "Oh.. my goodness" I was speechless. "Oh Jade. I've missed you so much!" She said. I was on the verge of crying. 2 years and we never called each other. I left Harry not Gemma. But she reminded me so much of him that we never talked.
"I missed you too." I spoke softly walking over to the backyard and sitting on the bench seat. "I'm so sorry, Jade. I never called.." She said but I stopped her "no, I'm sorry Gemma.." I started. "For everything.. I lied to you about getting a divorce and leaving him.." I admitted. "Jade, I was devastated.. When Harry came home to mum and I after he saw you at the airport..." She said. "He didn't talk to us for days.. He kept on crying and crying.." "Please stop." I said. I couldn't hear more. I wiped the tears with my shirt.
"Can we meet?" Gemma said after a while. "I'm in Los Angeles.." I replied her. There was no way she would've gone to Georgia let alone LA. "I know." She said. "I heard from your mum. I called your landline in Georgia but you didn't pick up so I called your mum and she told me you moved to Los Angeles.. With someone..?" She questioned.
"You'll come to Los Angeles?" I dodged her question. "Yeah.. The boys, Sophia and I are here for their concerts and are staying at Harry's house a few more days." She replied. Harry's here too. I sighed before finding the courage to speak up. "Alex and I are almost done with the renovation of the house, you can come over tomorrow. I can text you our address." "Alright, great. See you then" She replied. "Wait." I stopped her. "Yeah?" She asked. "Only you'll be coming?" I asked her. "Um, I was planning to. Do you want me to ask the boys and Sophia?" She spoke. "I mean except Harry. He'll stay home." She added. I felt extremely bad over the fact that she even mentioned 'except Harry'.. "Yeah.. It's been a while since I saw them." I informed her. "Alright, thank you. See you tomorrow" she said. "Bye" and with that I ended the call.
I closed my eyes and laid back, sighing. Fate just never separates us..
I felt arms wrap around me. "Helloo" I heard Alex as he nuzzled his face in the crook of my neck. "Do you want to go out?" He asked. I nodded before he took my hand and we went back inside.

"How does this Niall dude like his pasta again?" Alex asked me from the other side of the kitchen. We were preparing the boys', Sophia and Gemma's favorite foods for tomorrow. "Extra cheese, a little bit of pepper and remember the sauce to be a little tangy." I replied him as he wrote it down. I reached over for the cabinets to take out muffin tins to make some blueberry muffins.
After what seemed like hours, we finally prepared all the food and stored them well in the fridge and plopped ourselves on the couch. "Finally." Alex sighed. "Your friends better be worth all my cooking" he chuckled making me chuckle. "They will be, trust me." I said. I felt my hand being held, pulling me over to him. "I'll always trust you" he said running his hand through my hair. "And I hope you trust me too."
"What do you mean you hope? I already trust you" I told him. He smiled and placed his chin on my head as we cuddled on the couch in complete peace.
I felt at ease in his arms. I felt comfortable. I felt warm. It felt good to be loved. Yet, I did not feel protected. I felt as if anyone could come and snatch me away from Alex and put me back into darkness. And when I'm back into the darkness, Alex would never be able to reach for me. He would search and then eventually give up and move on.. Just like how I moved on. The irony.
I sighed and closed my eyes. He will protect me.. From everything. From my wildest dreams just like how I expected Harry to.
