Chapter 30 Familiar Ties
Lydia's PoV
Confused. That's what I am. Totally confused. Completely aimless.
The reason of my current state is The Guardian.
No it's not a newspaper. Nor is it some cult. Even I don't know what it is. What is it meant to do? Protect random people?
The Guardian 's origin can be traced back to early eighteenth century when wars were common and power the main reason.
A women named Vanessa founded this organization to protect a certain race of people.
Vanessa's children laid a firm foundation for the Guardian to exist with ideals and rules and whatnot.
But we still don't know who are we protecting!
Or from whom for the matter.
Until Robert's death.
Funny how sometimes death gives you the perspective you lacked.
Funny how trivial things like dreams work in such complex manner.
Oh and the biggest joke of all, love is the cause of war.
Love for human, love for power, love for death, love for betrayal, you name it.
My parents loved me but they loved money more.
They are dead.
I loved someone. He is bound to die.
"Lydia? Got a minute?" A voice interrupted my thoughts.
"Yeah. What's up Mark?" I said.
"The recruits are here. Wanna tour them around?" Mark, my colleague said.
"Why would I wanna do that?" I asked.
"Cause you love me." Mark winked.
"Nope. Try again." I smirked.
"I have a jar of Nutella and-"
"Done. I get the whole jar. Where are the recruits?" I cut Mark off and asked.
"First floor, second corridor." He said.
"Room 1B?" I asked.
"Yeah. Ask Jonah not me." Mark said.
Jonah was the leader of our group. He generally started the recruits from the entrance.
Room 1B was a strict no-go. It belonged to his wife who was rumoured to have contracted some sort of despicable unspeakable disease, details of which are unknown.
People steered clear from that room apart from of course a rebellious few.
There is nothing wrong with the room. Just it's inhabitant left a deep mark on it.
"Move it freak!" I was shoved into the wall.
"Watch where you are going dumbass." I yelled back.
The young members of the Guardian were not a symbol of modesty and decorum.
I sighed inwardly and made my way to room 1B.
"These are times of crisis and we need all the help we can get. Our enemies have struck once. It's time we make our move." Jonah said.
Despite being in his forties, Jonah looked quite young and was an effective communicator.
No wonder all the ex-members are all wonder struck and nodding along with him.
