Chapter 28 Chasing Darkness Away
Liz's PoV
"Ohkay then..." Cass drawled.
"Um about Prim-" Sienna started but Cass cut her off.
"I too want to see Prim. When are you guys planning to see her?" Cass directed the question at us.
"I was thinking maybe now." Sienna mumbled.
"Great. We could go now. Right? Or are there some other plans? Liz?" Cass asked.
"OK here's what we do. Cass goes back home and brings her torch. You and Cass can go see Prim while I examine the torch." I looked at both of them expectantly.
"You won't come with us?" Cass asked.
"No. I have some work. You and Sienna can go." I said.
"Why are you after that torch?" Cass asked me.
"Just curious. I read a mystery book and am trying to unlock a code." I said trying to evade Cassie's suspicion.
"Nerd." Cassie muttered.
"Better than being dumb." I said.
Cassie scowled at me.
"Kidding! You going with Sienna of not smartass?" I asked Cassie.
"Whatever. Works well for me. Sienna?" Cass asked.
"Alright." Sienna said.
"So see you in fifteen?" I asked Cassie.
"I will be back in five." Cass said.
"Fine. Bye." I said.
"Kicking me out already? Not cool." Cassie pouted.
"Get out. Shoo." I gestured for her to leave.
"No goodbye kiss?" Cass asked.
I rolled my eyes while Sienna stifled, trying to control her laughter.
"Or maybe Sienna could do the honours." Cass said mischievously.
"What?" Sienna asked.
"French or no French?" Cass asked and winked at Sienna.
"I am not French." Sienna said.
"She'll pass. Get out." I said and turned to clear the mess I had made of my drawer.
"Remember what I said about stress cleaning!" Cass yelled as she left.
"Whatever." I muttered.
Cass left and Sienna looked at her retreating back in confusion. She then directed her confusion at me.
"Liz, remember you told me visiting hours were over for today. How will I meet Prim then?" Sienna asked.
"One of Cassie's cousin is a doctor there. I am sure he can sneak you both in. You can ask Cassie about it." I said absentmindedly.
"Sneak in? Isn't that wrong? I don't want to trouble Cassie or you." Sienna said.
"What? No! It's fine. You should see Prim. It would do you good. I would come with you too but I have some work." I said.
Sienna looked at me.
"What?" I snapped.
"Liz are you alright? You seem a bit uh pale." Sienna said.
"I am fine." I said in a clipped tone.
"OK." Sienna said, sounding hurt.
"Look Sienna I am just cranky from lack of food and sleep. That's all." I said tiredly.
