We sat at a table feeling awkward. I drummed my finger on my thigh as Emily slept. Please say something. He just kept looking at me not saying anything.
"So how long have you lived here?" I asked.
"About two years." He answered.
"It is really nice and smells brand new."
"It's the fifth time I have been here." He looked around and smiled.
"Why, don't you like it here?" I looked at him puzzled.
"Yes but I stay at my apartment in the city."
"So you're going to stay now that I have moved in?"
"I don't know." He looked away like he wasn't certain.
"I'm not staying here alone."
"You won't people work here." He looked at me frustrated.
"Like hell no. Would you kindly take me back to my apartment?" I got up from the chair.
"What is your malfunction?" He looked frustrated.
"You're so infuriating." I sighed.
"I will lock you in this place if that's what it takes for you to stay here." His voice was stern.
What the hell do I look like Rapunzel? I looked at him like he was an alien. "Fine I will stay but how am I going to get to work?" I looked at him. You cave really quick Cassie.
"I'll get someone to drive you."
"What about Emily?" I stared at him.
"I hired a professional nanny." He looked proud.
"No Brandy. I'm basically helping her through school."
"But she isn't a professional."
"But she loves Emily." I sounded whinny.
"I said no and I mean no." He shot at me. Prick.
"Fine then." I rolled my eyes. He smirked. The rest of the day was boring he showed me around the place, but I still would get lost. He showed me my room and the nursery for Emily it was nice. He gave me a card key whatever it was. We stood as the door as he was about to leave an awkward and uncomfortable silence and I cleared my throat.
"So see you at work tomorrow?" It came out as a question than a statement.
"Yes." He said with a contemplating smile. He turned to walk away and he turned away suddenly pulling me close and planted his lips on mine. He's kissing me. Kiss him back we have wanted it for a long time. His lips moved over mine and I finally found the strength to kiss him back. He tastes like strawberries he grips my waist tighter and pushed me against the door jam. The kiss made butterflies fly around in my stomach and my heart in my throat. I had my hands around his neck gripping his dark hair. He pushes harder against my body. This sure does feel good. I want air but I won't pull away I want this. I gripped his hair harder and he grips my waist and pulls away slowly. No don't. I'm flushed and panting and my hormones raging war on me. I use the door jamb for support my eyes still closed and lips parted.
"I have to go." He clenched his jaw and fist and walked away. I wanted him to stay. If he stays a baby might be conceived. I told myself. I closed the door and took deep breaths.
The other days went by fast and anytime I saw Ethan I would flush. He wouldn't look at me and I wondered if he regretted kissing me. If he regrets kissing me then to hell with him. Friday came and I was glad I wouldn't have to look at him and feel bad. Gale the driver drove me home and Emily's nanny Beatrix scare the hell out of me I swear she and Shrek are family. The house was empty Emily was asleep. Freedom. I could finally relax I put on a shirt and my underwear and watched TV.
