Off You Go

You had always been in my presence

For all these years.

We always had this youthful essence,

Altogether overcoming fears,

Going on adventures

To learn life's lectures.

-

You had always been with me

For all this time.

You often saw me

When the school bells chime.

We both hated school

Because we were too cool.

-

You had been with me longer

Than I know

Other than my father and mother.

We used to walk in thick snow,

Throwing snowball at each other

And playing hockey with my brother.

-

But then off you go.

For the very first time in eternity

I don't see you do

Things together like we used to do in the fraternity.

I see your still face

For the very last time in this solemn place.

-

I hope that you'll be in bliss

You'll be missed.

A/N: I wrote this poem loosely based on the poem "Take Her Away, Safe" from Take Her Away, Safe by Sun_Lily. She's new, but I'm sure her poems are great. Comment, vote, and share. Over and out.
