I began to think of new lyrics, beats, and rhythms in my head as I went on my run around the neighborhood, I stopped to take a break near the alley that marked the halfway point of my run I looked into the alley when I heard a loud crash. Then everything went silent, what if someone's hurt they could need help, I walked into the dark alley and saw a silhouette of someone laying on the ground, I jogged over and kneeled down next to the person. It looked to be a girl of about 14. I rolled her onto her back, she's not bleeding, she must of just blacked out, it is really hot out today, I shook her shoulder gently and said "hey are you okay? do you need to go to the hospital." The girl groaned and said "NO, no hospitals, please," I helped her sit up and said "are you okay?," she shook her head and covered her face with her hands before she said "I think I'm gonna black out."
My eyes widened and I leaned forward to catch her as her eyes rolled back and she fell backward luckily I got my arms under her before she hit her head on concrete, I stood up and sighed before I leaned down and tried to pick up the girl. She's surprisingly light, like seriously underweight light. Her clothes look really worn out and old too I wonder if she lives in the streets or in that abandoned old house next to the alley, everyone around here thinks that house is haunted. I carried her back to my house and set her down to open the door before I picked her back up and carried her inside my house I walked upstairs, and set her down in the guest bedroom.
I sat down on the bed and began to think, did I do the right thing in bringing her here, she did plead with me not to go to a hospital, I respected her choice of not want to go, maybe there's a reason she doesn't want me to take her there. She did answer really quick, almost too quick, like she's hiding something, I'll ask her again when she wakes up, my thoughts broke when I heard the girl ask "where am I?" I turned around and said "hey, take it easy I don't want you passing out again, and I brought you to my house, since you said you didn't want me to take you to a hospital, and I didn't want to leave you in that alley like that."
She nodded and laid down I question "so what's your name?," She gave me a suspicious gaze and replied "why do you want to know, your just going to call the cops or the orphanage or you--," I cut her off. I said "I won't do that I just don't want to say 'hey' or 'girl', or 'teenage chick' when I want to get your attention or ask you something." She sighed and said "Emily...my names Emily,"I sat down next to her and said "you mentioned me bringing you back to a orphanage, why would you think I'd bring you there?"
She closed her eyes and said "you know that I'm okay, I won't die, I don't think I'm going to black out again, can I leave please?," I put a hand on her shoulder and looked into her eyes. She's scared, angry and hiding something, I can't let her leave unless she eats something, someone that underweight is bound to have serious mental issues or lives on the streets. I said "you can go, I'm not keeping you here, do you want something to eat before you go though?," her eyes widened and she said "yes, of course I do, I'm starv-- forget I said that."
