Chapter 39 - Rock Wall

here's an update guys, I hope you've been enjoying these last few chapters because things are about to get complicated again. so here it goes. This Chapter is dedicated to Katycat2323 thank you for changing my life forever, you're the greatest friend I've ever had and I will miss you for the rest of my life, I hope you find peace on the other side of the rainbow :) I'll miss you my friend get well soon.

I walked into the RockQuest with Emily by my side Nick arrived about fifteen minutes after us, he walked over to the front desk and came back with consent form, he handed me mine and Emily's and filled out his. After Nick and I filled out the consent forms we turned them in and got the climbing harnesses, I helped Emily put on hers before putting on mine, then we walked into the climbing area. Emily walked over to a belayer and then pointed to one of the walls that continued over the ceiling, I walked over to Nick and said "she's going to climb one of the walls that goes over the ceiling."

Nick replied "Dem relax it's not like she can fall," I sighed responding "I know but it still makes me nervous," Nick then said "then watch her, climb up," before a belayer gave him the go ahead to start climbing up the wall he was standing next to. I walked over and stood next to the belayer who was holding Emily's rope, he said "you her mom?," I replied "yea," as I watch her climb up the wall, she's already halfway to the ceiling. He replied "she'll be fine, she climbs like a pro, considering she's only a kid." I smiled and said "yea, she's something special thats for sure," the belayer gave me a weird look I just ignored it and put my hands on my hips and continued to watch Emily climb.

Emily's climbed halfway across the ceiling wall I continue to grow more anxious, one of Emily's feet slipped off the rock wall and then her other foot and then one hand slipped so she was holding on by one hand. I put a hand over my mouth and the other over my chest, and said "Emily, just let go and come down," she looked down at me smiled and grabbed a rock on the wall with her other hand before she pulled her feet back up. Then she just continued to climb on the ceiling wall, my mouth was gaping and the belayer said "told you, she climbs like a pro," I shook my head and walked away to climb a wall.

{Emily's P.O.V.}

I finished climbing the wall and gave the belayer a thumbs up to let him know I wanted to come down, I pushed off the wall and began coming down, when I reached the bottom he untied the rope. I said "can I climb the wall next to my mom," he said "yea," we walked over to the wall and he tied me to the rope and said "go," I turned around began climbing, when I was parallel with with Demi I said "hey Demi."

She looked at me and smiled and said "hey baby girl, you having fun?," I replied "yea," as we both continued to climb when we both reached the top of the walls Demi said "race you to the bottom?" She pushed off the wall and I did the same, Demi landed on the floor first, I landed shortly after and said "no fair, you weigh more than I do," Demi stuck her tongue out at and said "well, that's not my fualt, I was born this way."

I rolled my eyes at her and said "ugh," Demi put her arm around me and Nick walked over and said "I got lunch, do you guys want to head over to a park and eat or we can eat on one of the benches out front?" I replied "park sounds good," Demi replied "okay, we'll follow you Nick," Demi and I took off our harnesses and returned them at the front desk, then we walked out of RockQuest and toward Demi's car. Nick got into his and Demi started the engine as Nick backed out and drove out of the parking lot, Demi backed out and followed him to the park.

{Demi's P.O.V}

Nick pulled into the park parking lot I followed and found a parking space, Emily and I got out of the car and walked over to Nick who was sitting at a picnic table said "I got chicken sandwiches for everyone...is that okay?" I smiled and said "that's fine," Emily replied "it was very nice of you to get us all lunch," Nick replied "it's no problem," as he handed her a sandwich, he then handed me one, and we all began eating.

Emily kept glancing between Nick and me a smile on her face, when we finished our sandwiches she said "thank you for spending the day with us Nick," He looked at me and said "it's really no problem, I wasn't planning to do anything today anyway." She got up and said "so since we are at a park, anyone want to play a game of hide and seek, I know it's childish but it'll be fun," I smiled and said "I'll count you guys hide," Emily ran off in one direction Nick in the other.

I closed my eyes and counted to 30 before I opened my eyes and ran off in the direction Nick went, I looked around the play structure and the bathrooms and didn't find him. I went back to the play structure and looking in and under it, I eventually found Nick in the slide he laughed and said "you walked past me like six times," as he got out and stood up. I said "okay now let's go find Emily, do you have any idea where she went because I've looked everywhere," Nick said "I'll check the woods and you check the trees."

I walked towards the trees looking up into them as Nick followed a path that led into the woods, after about fifteen minutes of searching the park trees Nick yelled "Demi, Emily's hurt she needs you now!!!" I turned and ran into the woods until I saw Nick crouched down behind a bush his phone to his ear, he got up as I crouched down next to Emily, blood had already begun to pool around her. I gently picked her up and carried her out of the woods, she said "demi please put me down, please, it hurts," tears filled my eyes as I laid her down, the knife still stuck in her chest, Nick and I dare not touch it for fear of injuring her more. Her blood was now on me the paramedics arrived and put her in the ambulance Nick brought me into the ambulance he said he'll take my car home and that he'd come to hospital to meet mee.
