Lost Yet Found

Chapter 23 - "We Made It."

It's been three weeks Derek and I have been in the background of almost every concert and Demi's still alive, we are staying on the streets always moving always on the run, I forgot how much fun it is to be an alley kid. I turned to derek and said "how many more weeks do you think I should stay out in the streets with you, it's not that I'm not enjoying spending time with you I just, I miss Demi a-lot." Derek put his hand on my shoulder and said "I know, and I know what will take your mind of of her, we haven't had a good clean alley race in a while, no pushing or shoving,no punching, and no blocking the path, just enjoy the race alright." 

I smiled and said "as you wish, but I can't promise anything about the no shoving part, you have a tendency to get in my way," he smirked and said "because I want to win." I pushed him and dived into the alley climbing and leaping over fences, rolling as you land on the ground, jumping over trash cans and dumpsters, racing up fire escapes, sliding down pipes and gutters. I stopped to catch my breath before I emerged from the alley on the other side a few blocks away from where we were staying. 

Derek landed next to me a few seconds later and I shoved him and said "you startled me, you dork," he just laughed and replied "that was the point," I rolled my eyes and said "do you want to get started toward the airport." He gave me a thoughtful look and said "we just came from the airport there's a concert tonight, dummy," I mentally slapped myself and said "right sorry, my brain's not working properly since I haven't been able to sleep." Derek's eyes grew concerned and he questioned "because of the nightmares," I nodded and he wrapped his arms around me and said "I'll protect you from them today, I'll stay awake and wake you up if you so much as twitch."

I smiled and said "thank you, your so sweet," he put his arm around me and said "let's grab our backpacks and head over to the place where the concert will be, you know where it is right?," I nodded. I said "race you back?,"  he shook his head and said "let's walk, we can race to where the concert will be." I sighed and said "fine," as we walked back to the building we were staying in, we grabbed our stuff out of the old building and tightened the straps on our bags I questioned "ready," he replied "set," I smiled and said "go," as I shoved him to the floor and ran out first.

Derek arrived first and picked the lock on the back entrance, he opened the door as I walked up and said "after you," I smiled and walked in, it's late, Demi and Nick are already performing, we stayed out of sight. Derek gave me a walkie talkie and said "same plan as always, I'll meet you when it's over," he gave me a small kiss before he headed toward the main entrance to the building I stayed out of sight and covered the back entrances.

Derek suddenly said "we got a problem, three snipers are here, I'm pretty sure Demi's going to be dead if we don't do something," over the walkie talkie, I stood up and said "where are they?," He replied "meet me at the front you'll see them." My hood fell off as I ran, blinded by my worry for Demi, and maybe Nick I didn't look where I was going and ran right into Demi, I was knocked over and fell backward she crashed into the wall and said "hey watch where your--, EMILY!!" 

I sighed and said "yes it's me, you're in great danger, three snipers, I gotta go stop them with Derek, bye," I got up to keep running but she grabbed my arm. Demi said "thank you, for the warning good luck and I've missed you so much I just want you to know that in case well you know," I nodded and replied "I've missed you a-lot to, but I really have to go." She released me and said "so do I, and I love you," a tear rolled down my cheek as I turned and ran towards the front, Derek called out "hey, look," and he pointed to three different places. I said "you get two I'll get one and head to help you when I can,"  he nodded and gave me a short but emotional kiss, I smiled before I turned and ran toward where he pointed first.

When I reached the spot I dropped my backpack behind the wall and pulled out the small throwing knife, my gaze hardened as I turned the corner and leapt at the man setting up the sniper gun. He pushed me off of him, and I rolled out of his grip and pinned him to the floor I put the knife to his throat and said "when I let you up , your going to leave the building or I will kill you." He gulped and replied "you'll have to make me," I pinned one of his arms behind his back and pulled him up the knife still on his throat, I led him toward a side door, I said "open the door and walk out." 

He did as I asked and I locked the door behind him, I put the knife in my pocket as I ran to help Derek with the third guy, when I reached the third guy I noticed Derek was bleeding and pinned down. I ran over and pushed the man off my boyfriend and said "leave him alone," I managed to get my throwing knife against his neck as he pinned me down, I saw Derek grab his arms and pin them behind him we led the man to the side door and I opened it, letting him out before we both locked it again. 

I grabbed my backpack and Derek said "can you get my bag, I'll um... I'll rest here," I went and got his bag and said "I ran into Demi," Derek gave me a look that said 'you idiot.' I helped him up both of our bags on my back and he leaned on me heavily and when I got to the backstage entrance I noticed it wide open. Derek said "oh sh*t, we just fell for a distraction," I dropped our bags and closed the door, suddenly we heard a scream, Demi's scream, I ran toward the voice Derek hobbling along behind me.

I got to the room and saw Demi cornered and trying to keep two knives from impaling her, Derek ran infront and shoved the man away from Demi, she backed away towards the doorway. I ran to help Derek, I reached him and saw that he was bleeding more heavily now, I said "go protect Demi, I got this." I kicked both the knives away and grabbed both the guy's arms, I pinned him to the wall as security came into the room and grabbed him, suddenly I heard Demi yell "Emily you better get over here, Derek's passed out!"
