Part 23: PreFinale Night Part 1

You take a deep breath and reach over and grab Ashley's hand as Ryan says "and the final person to go into our top two is...."
You look at Trent, and see the humbled, but nervous look on his face. He has ahold of Dalton's hand and he looks at you and holds your gaze for a second and then looks over at Ryan.
"Trent." Ryan exclaims and everyone in the crowd goes wild. Everyone around you is on their feet, including Katie, and is applauding. You look back up at Trent who is wrapping Dalton in a hug, and your heart hurts slightly as you watch Dalton congratulate Trent in the most sincere way that you have ever seen. You smile to yourself as you see their friendship play out before your eyes and the Dalton runs off stage and Laporsha comes to stand beside Trent.
"Next, these two will perform to show you why you should vote for them. But that's after this..." When the cameras go off, you let go of Ashley's arm and Katie comes running over to you.
"Does that mean he's gonna be the American idol???" She asks excitedly.
You can't help but laugh as you bend down to her level.
"He has a lot bigger chance, now, Katie."
She screams "YAY TRENTS GONNA BE THE MERICAN IDOL!!" And runs back over to your parents.
You smile at your dad and he gives you a thumbs up. You start to walk over to thank him for flying out but the announcer says "15 seconds. Please return to your seats." So you send him a thumbs up back and sit down in your seat.
Clay leans over Ashley and whispers loudly "boy better bring his A-game, cuz Laporsha's got some pipes."
Before you can respond, the lights go down and Ryan walks back onto the stage, gracefully and says "welcome back to American idol..."

"This is American Idol... goodnight everybody...."
Ryan says and the cameras go off as the lights come up. Everybody starts applauding and standing but you stay in your seat and stare at the guy on the stage being whisked away for more press.
Clay comes walking over and says "he literally just killed both of those songs." "Yeah, chandelier was better than it was last time" Ashley says as a smile crosses her face. "I think he's gonna win it all."
And a smile spreads across yours too. "I think he deserves it." You say as Mrs. Cindy and RK walk over with your parents.
You hug your mom and she says "he was absolutely amazing, baby. He's even better in person."
"I told you!!" You laugh and then hug your dad.
"What'd you think daddy?"
He looks at you for a second with a straight face and says "he was pretty good.." You look up at him, shocked and a smile works its way across his face and into his eyes.
"Okay, he was pretty dang awesome." He says as he laughs.
Mr. Randy comes walking up with Ashley's family and you bend down to Katie's level.
"What'd you think?"
"He looked so pretty on that stage tonight sissy. His eyes were so blue and happy."
You try to fight a smile as you look up at your parents and then back at her.
"I meant his singing.."
"Oh. He sang good." She says nonchalantly and then wraps her arms around your neck.
"I missed you, sissy. I'm ready for you and Trent both to come home like we all used to be.."
You hug her back as a sad feeling works its way through you and you don't know how to tell her that nothing will ever be the same, so you just hug her back and say "I missed you too, Katie Kat! I'm gonna fly home with y'all when y'all go home."
"Yay!!!" She says and pulls back from the hug.
Before you stand up, you lean closer to her and whisper "he did look pretty on the stage tonight, didn't he?" You both giggle and then you stand and look at Kyle.
He smiles and hugs you "missed you sister."
You smile and hug him back "I missed you too.."
After a few family photos are made, and standing around and talking for a few minutes, your Katie looks up at you and yawns.
"When can I see Trent?"
"Um, well. I'm not really sure. He's doing press stuff right now, and then I'm not sure what they have planned for him."
She looks at you sadly and says "oh."
Before you can respond, Mrs. Cindy takes a step up next to you and says "you know what? Let's go find him right now." And then looks around at your family "y'all come with me."
Before you walk out, Ashley grabs your arm, we are gonna go eat. Text me and let me know what the plans are, okay?"
You laugh and says "okay."
"Better yet, text Clay. My phones about to die."
You laugh and nod at her and follow behind your family.
