Part 11: Goodbye Part 2

As y'all pull up to the Longhorn, Clay and Ashley climb in the back seat, and Trent backs out.
"Was up bro?" Clay says and Trent smiles "dude mom was so mad that I hadn't unpacked from Gulf Shores... She was packing for me and she was looking for my suit case and when she found it, she was so mad." Trent says laughing.
"Wait. Why weren't you packing? Are you too helpless to pack for yourself?" Clay teases.
"No, I just.."
"Yeah, Basically" you cut Trent off, and everybody laughs.
Trent lets go of your hand and turns the radio up and starts singing along.. "As long as I got your hand in my hand, baby I could die a happy man.." He sings as he slides his fingers between yours. You look over and smile at him and feel the butterflies flying around in your stomach.

After y'all eat an early supper together, you all go back to Trent's house. When you walk in, you smell cookies baking and hear Trent say "ooo mama. You're the greatest."
Mrs Cindy comes around the corner and smiles at him "you asked for them, so I made them.. They'll be ready in a little while."
You hear Clay say "mamas boy." quietly and Trent responds by hitting him when Mrs. Cindy's back is turned.
You and Ashley laugh and shake your heads as you all walk into the living room. You sit next to Trent on the couch and Clay and Ashley pile up in the chair as Trent starts looking for a movie on Netflix. You curl up next to him as puts his arm around you and you feel the tears form in your eyes again.
"Not now." You tell yourself and rub your eyes. He looks down at you but you just focus on the tv. When the movie starts, Trent starts playing with your hair, and you nod off. When you wake up, the movie is off and your head is in Trent's lap and he is looking at you. You smile at him and say "hello creep."
He laughs and says "maybe I am a creep, but you're really pretty when you sleep.."
You sit up and look at him. "Yeah not weird at all." You look around and say "where are Clayton and Ash??"
He stands up and pulls you up with him. "Oh they're getting the fire going."
"At the creek??"
"Yeah." Trent says as he pull you into a hug "I told them we would meet them there when you woke up." You pull out of the hug and as he leans to kiss you, Mrs. Cindy comes into the room.
You quickly pull out of his grasp and put on your shoes.
"Uh Trent. I have a list of stuff you need to go get from the store." She says looking straight at him, trying not to laugh.
"Can we go in a little bit?" He asks "clay and ash are starting a fire and we were gonna do some s'mores.."
"Yeah that's fine. Just as long as you go before we have to leave."
He takes your hand as you walk out the door and climb on the Side by Side. He starts it up and heads toward yall's special spot.
When y'all are almost there, he slows the side by side down and it comes to a stop. He turns the key off and turns to look at you. Before you can ask what he is doing, he leans over to you and kisses you, quickly. When he pulls back a little bit, you smile and and puts his arm around you and pulls you closer to him. He smiles and then leans into you again. While he kisses you, you turn yourself so that you are halfway facing him, so that you can get closer. You scoot in as his hand moves from your shoulder to your lower back. You put one hand on his cheek and run the other through his hair, as he kisses you again, slowly. the kiss builds, and you scoot as close to him as you can get and he puts both of his arms around you. And the kiss deepens. As you put your other hand around his neck, his phone starts ringing. He continues to kiss you, but you break the kiss first.
"You need to answer your phone, babe." You say, breathless.
He drops his head and answers the call.
"Hello?"
"Yeah. We are on our way." He says and looks up at you and smiles.
"Bye clay."
He ends the call and says "I hate him so much." And leans over and kisses you again quickly and then starts the Side by side. You turn to face the front and slide as close to him as you can get and lay your head on his shoulder. When you round the next corner, you see Clay standing next to a blazing fire, looking at y'all smirking.

When you get off the side by side, clay smirks and says "I heard y'all start up the side by side, but when it got close, the sound went away. I just wanted to make sure y'all were okay."
You feel the heat rush to your cheeks as you look from him to Ashley. She looks at you and says "I'm sorry. I tried to make him stop." And then laughs.
You hear Trent say "shut up Clayton" As he walks over to you.
Y'all sit down next to Ashley and Trent grabs a blanket and wraps it around you.
You smile up at him as he walks over to help Clay get the smore stuff ready.
You look over and see Ashley looking at you.
"You makin it?" She asks.
You nod and say "as long as I'm not thinkin about it.." You shake your head and then say "these are gonna be the longest weeks of my life."
"I know." She says as she smiles sadly "I don't remember a time where he wasn't around aggravating the piss outta me.. "
You laugh and look over at him.
"You really like him... Don't you (y/n)?"
You look at her and back at him. When he sees you looking at him, he smiles at you.  You smile back and then look at her and nod as tears come into your eyes. "Yeah. I really do. More than I wanna admit.."
Before she can respond, the guys walk over carrying marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers. "Y'all ready for the best s'mores ever??" Clay says as he sits down next to Ashley. Trent sits next to you and you look up at the sky, where the sun it setting right above the trees. The sky is purple and pink and you smile. Trent follows your gaze and looks at the sky and then leans over and says "it's almost as beautiful as you."
You laugh and elbow him playfully. "You're so cheesy."
"Maybe. But it's true." You look at him and smile and he smiles back. After a second,  you say "I'm gonna call you cheddar."
And laugh.
"No you aren't." He says, matter of factly. You don't answer him, but just get up and roast a marshmallow. When you sit back down next to him, he says "is that one for me."
You put it on the graham cracker with the chocolate and take a big bite and say "nope" with a mouth full. He laughs and roasts his marshmallow and comes to sit next to you. After everyone has had their share of s'mores, clay grabs his guitar off of the blanket behind him and strums a few chords and then starts singing.
"I put that record on... Girl you know what song and I let it play again."
Trent scoots so that he's sitting behind you and you lean back on him as he wraps his arms around you.
When the chorus comes, he starts singing with clay and you instantly get chill bumps "is it a cover band in some college town bar where it's NA na NA and air guitars.. Or is it something to get you through, what're you listenin to?"
As clay starts on the next verse, Trent runs his hands over your arms m, that are covered by the blanket and kisses your cheek.
Once that song is over, clay starts playing "Heartbeat" by Carrie underwood, and you hum along as he sings. When the chorus starts, you start singing. You don't notice Trent staring at you until you finish "dancing to the rhythm of your heartbeat." In the first chorus.
"What??" You say turning toward him.
"Uh...! You didn't tell me you could sing like that..."
"Like what??" You ask him.
"Um so perfectly.." He says with his eyes wide.
You roll your eyes and smile, and he kisses you. Clay says "ugh get a room." And Ashley sends him a look. He starts playing chords again, and smiling.
After he plays a few songs that you don't know that him and Trent sing to, he starts playing a familiar tune. After playing for a second, he nods to Trent who starts singing.
"You know I'd fall apart without you.. I don't know how you do what you do.." Tears rush to your eyes and you blink a few times to try to stop them. As he sings the first "I wanna make you feel wanted", he pulls your closer to him and his voice cracks. You feel a tear hit your arm and you realize that it isn't from you. That's when your start falling too.
When the song is over, you turn around and kiss him, slowly at first and let it build, forgetting that there is anyone else around until you hear Clay chuckle.
When the fire dies down, you all stand up and go over to the side by side. Ashley and clay climb in the back and y'all head back to Trent's house. Trent's mom hugs Clay and Ashley and says "The AI viewing party is still happening every Thursday. Y'all better be here!!"
Ashley laughs and says "you know we will, Mama C."
