"Devin!" Brenna exclaimed with a huge grin on her face.
It was Tuesday, a day before Thanksgiving and the taxi had just dropped her and Riley off in front of the Slipknot residence. Devin helped Riley out of the car and as soon as her feet touched the ground she took off across the yard towards Brenna. Paul soon stepped out of the house along with Joey and Craig. They all rushed behind Brenna to meet Riley in the middle of the lawn. Brenna scooped her up into her arms and attacked her face with millions of kisses and have her a long hug.
"Hey Devin." Joey greeted, he was happy that Devin and Riley were able to fly out for the holidays and not be stuck in Los Angeles all alone. "It's good to have you here."
"Thanks for extending the invite." She smiled and held her arms out to him.
Joey embraced her tightly then gave her a light shove over to Paul, when he hugged her it was more gentle than Joey's hug.
"Come on, let's get you two settled in." Paul said, grabbing their bags. "Sid is on his way back with Shaun."
When they got inside Devin could smell apple pie being baked and heard the low sound of a football game.
"George still on tour?"
"Yeah, but he told me to tell you guys happy turkey day." Devin replied.
"He's been on tour for a while now, hadn't he?" Brenna asked. She understood that sometimes tours last through holidays and birthdays, but she would've thought that George and the guys would've been done by now.
"He has but they've had to postpone this tour for a while now so they're trying to make up for lost time." Devin sat down on the couch and exhaled exhaustively.
"How's it feel to live in LA? Totally different than Seattle and San Diego huh?"
Devin looked over at Chris and smiled, she hadn't noticed him walk in but was glad to see him again.
"Oh yeah, I mean the weather isn't too different than San Diego and the traffic sucks." This earned her a laugh from the guys. "But I'm surviving. Riley is in school now too, and I'm still trying to find a better paying job."
"George helping you at all? I mean that is his kid too." Joey asked with a frown.
Devin resisted the urge to roll her eyes at him, she knew that him and everyone else was just concerned for her and Riley.
"He's helped a lot actually."
"That's good," Joey nodded his head. "Because if he's not me and the guys just might have to kick his ass."
"I'll be sure to pass along the message." She said with a laugh.
Soon Stacy and Brenna walked back in the living room with a couple trays of chocolate chip cookies, Riley was close behind on their heels. They sat the trays down in the middle of the coffee table, Stacy then looked down at an impatient Riley.
"Would you like a cookie Ry?"
"Yeah!"
Stacy looked back at Devin, she wanted to make sure that it was okay for her to have a cookie before dinner.
"What kind is it?"
"Just plain old chocolate chip." Stacy replied.
"Just one for now, but she can't have anything with nuts."
"Why not? Stacy asked.
"She's allergic to them. I didn't tell you guys this when it happened, but she had an allergic reaction and had to go to the ER."
