"Sid, please call me back." Devin whispered into her phone then wiped her eyes. After she had talked with Abby she had went upstairs to get her things together, but Sid had already beat her to it and had left a note for her saying I hope he was worth it, along with a small velvet black box that contained a diamond ring.
She hated that he had overheard her conversation and that she didn't get the chance to talk to him herself. Better yet she full on hated herself as a human being. She felt like the most horrible person to have ever walked the earth. Out of all the people in the world Sid was not somebody who deserved to be pushed around and have his heart dragged through the dirt.
"Mommy?" Riley tugged on her mother's jacket and watched her with concerned eyes. "You okay?"
Devin nodded her head. "Yes baby, are you happy to be home?" She asked once she got the door unlocked and stepped into the apartment. Riley was right behind her, carrying the stuffed dog that Paul had gave her before they had left.
"Yeah, I am." She replied around a small yawn.
Devin smiled at her daughter then set the bags on the recliner, exhaling tiredly. It was Saturday and they had just got back from LAX, it had been a long flight from Iowa to California.
"Are you sleepy?"
Riley climbed onto the couch and sat down, squeezing the dog against her chest.
"No I'm not." She replied.
Devin knew that she was tired, she had taken a nap on the plane for half an hour but she probably needed more sleep. She knew better than to try and put her down for a nap, Riley would be too stubborn.
"Alright then, we'll do something tonight if you're not tired." Devin sat down beside Riley.
"What can we do?"
"How about we go but some decorations for the Christmas tree, and if you're still not tired we could go buy a tree as well."
Riley loved decorating for Christmas, Christmas was one of her favorite holidays because of Santa Clause and the toys. She loved the decorations as well, she thought they were always pretty. Her eyes lit up and a huge smile broke across her face.
"Is daddy gonna come with us to get the decorations? Or Sidney?"
Devin tried her best to keep a look of pain off of her face. She shook her head saying, "No sweetie they're not, daddy is still on tour and Sid is back in Iowa."
"I want them here."
"I know you do," Devin said then stroked her hair. Then she got an idea, she wasn't sure how well it would work out but she would at least try her best. "How about when we start decorating we call him on Skype?"
"Really?" She asked excitedly.
"Of course, as soon as we get home I'll call him."
"Okay!" Riley hugged her mom tightly. "Thank you mommy, love you."
"I love you too, Ry."
Devin kissed her head then as she got up from the couch the house phone began to ring. She sighed and walked over to the kitchen counter, she guessed that it was her mom calling to see if they made it home okay. When she answered she was very surprised to hear that it was Asia who had called her. She hesitated at first but guessed that she was calling her about the pregnancy.
"Hey, Asia how are-"
"You fucking whore!" Asia exclaimed, cutting off Devin.
Devin felt her heart drop to the bottom of her stomach. She swallowed hard, trying to think of what she could say to calm her down. But what could she say? Could she lie? No, lying her way out of this wasn't going to help the situation since she obviously already knew the truth. Well, to be honest nothing she would say could help this situation. She just had to accept the responsibility since her and George were caught.
"Look I'm sorry," she said, ignoring Asia's insult. "I wasn't thinking."
Asia laughed coldly.
"Oh yeah, I bet you are sorry. I knew that you were nothing but a slut, all you wanted was George all to yourself. You don't give a shit about him and Riley having a relationship!"
"Now hold on a god damn second, I didn't come all the way out to this shit hole of a town to try and steal George from you. I came here specifically for Riley and I don't give a flying fuck if you believe me or not."
"Mom?"
Devin looked over her shoulder to see Riley looking at her worriedly, she always knew whenever her mother was upset and she didn't like it.
"Riley, please go to your room."
Riley nodded and ran off to the bedroom then shut the door.
"Of course I don't believe it," Asia replied with venom in her voice. "You're a damn whore, he's my boyfriend and you seduced him!"
"I didn't seduce him, I didn't make him sleep with me. We both wanted to do it."
"Oh no, you are the one who took advantage of him while he's been sleep deprived on tour. It doesn't take much to get him to do something." Asia yelled into the phone. Devin wasn't sure if she could get through to her and she didn't want to blame George by saying that he was the one who started the whole thing, they were both to blame.
"I'm sorry, Asia."
That was all she could think of to say because she genuinely meant it. "We shouldn't have done it."
"You're such a fucking slut," she paused then an evil smirk crossed her face. "I wonder what Sid would think of you cheating on him with your baby daddy."
"He already knows." She replied quietly. Asia frowned and shook her head, she'd have to think of another way to get back at Devin.
Devin sat down on the counter top and chewed on her bottom lip, unsure of what to say next.
"Don't you ever, ever, let me catch you alone with him again! And don't even text him, don't call him, don't touch him and don't you dare try to take him away from me! I will ruin you if you try." Then the line went dead.
Devin hung up the phone and pulled her knees to her chest, feeling extremely crushed with pure guilt. She felt bad for Asia because she knew that she was afraid she would lose George.
"Mommy, are you okay?"
Devin picked up her head and looked at her daughter to see that she was approaching her very slowly, trying to see if it was okay for her to come closer. Devin forced a smile and nodded her head.
"I'm fine, want to go get the decorations now?"
Riley nodded her head and smiled. She was too young to know what was going on.
