Devin struggled to make her way into the apartment carrying five bags of groceries in her arms, her purse slung over her shoulder, and mail in her left hand. She was by all definitions emotionally and physically drained today, it had been an extremely long day. She had gotten up early to get Riley to go to school, went back to the mall to finish Christmas shopping again, grocery shopping and to put in more job applications. She was extremely stressed out this month due to continued money issues, she was still unemployed and here it was almost Christmas and she needed to buy Riley some presents and pay the bills. It was beginning to become too much for her to handle again, but somehow she was managing. She's been a single mother since the day Riley had been born, she always found a way to make ends meet and she hoped she would find a way quickly. She knew George would help her any way that he could but she hasn't talked to him since she told him that they couldn't make it out to see him this weekend. She had to focus on finding a job. She sighed and put the groceries on the counter and shook out her arms to regain the feeling, then began pulling the items out of the bags and putting them in their rightful places. Maybe she should try her luck at the lottery and hope that she wins, but hell she needed money to buy the damn thing too. Plus there was only a small five percent chance that she would win the lottery. All Devin knew was that she had to find a way to make money and fast. After she had finished putting up the groceries, her cell phone began to ring loudly in her purse and for a moment she had thought about ignoring it but decided against that in case it was Riley's school calling her. She pushed her hair back and dig through her purse until she had found her phone, but to her surprise it wasn't the school or even George calling, it was Sid.

"Hello?" She tried her best to sound happy and cheerful, but when really she felt like bursting into tears and begging him to forgive her.

"H-hey Dev, how are you?" He asked nervously, his eyes flicked up to meet Abby's gaze. She smiled encouragingly at him and gave him a thumbs up.

"Pretty good, tired, but good." She said taking a seat on the couch. "What about you?"

He paused for a moment to try and clear the knot from the back of his throat. This was quickly becoming way to difficult for him to handle, even with Abby supporting him.

"I'm okay, I uh got your messages."

On the other end of the phone he heard Devin give a low sigh followed by a few short sniffles, which told him that she was beginning to cry.

And there was a reason for that, she still felt like the most horrible human being. All she wanted was for him to forgive her so that they could work things out.

"Sid I truly am sorry, I never wanted to hurt you. It just happened and we got caught up in old feelings of when we used to be together and-"

The rest of her words were cut off by choked sobs. At this point Sid had put the call on speaker so that Abby knew what was being said on both sides of the conversation. Both of them met each other's gazes as they listened to Devin cry through the phone. Even though Abby had been angry with her sister for how she had treated Sid, she couldn't help but feel her heat break for Devin. She only ever heard her sister cry like this when their great grandmother had passed away right before Riley had been born.

"Devin?" Sid took a deep breath before continuing, Devin's sobs slowly faded to little hiccups. "Baby I miss you, I miss what we had and I'll be honest and say that I want us to work through this and move on."

"What? Are you serious?"

He nodded his head even though she couldn't see him.

"Yes, I really do. I've been taking with Abby over the last week and she made me realize that this was just a small bump in the road and that I shouldn't let this define our relationship and how I feel about you."
