The dim glow of the morning sun peaked through the curtains as a soft snore startled me awake. It was a sound I hadn't heard before; it was almost like a growl but softer – more gentle and peaceful in its own way. Jacob's arm was slung over my waist, keeping me pinned against him. The warmth of his naked skin was overwhelming. It begged me to fall back into my peaceful slumber, but I resisted. My parents were heading home soon and I needed to prepare.
My eyes fluttered open to find a Jacob I had never seen. Fast asleep, he looked more relaxed and happier than I had ever seen before. I smirked as I realized the sound was coming from him – he was snoring. It was adorable. I didn't want to leave his side. All I wanted to do was watch him sleep. But I knew I needed to start my day.
Reluctantly, I lifted his massive arm from my waist and placed it back on the bed after standing up. Leaning down, I kissed his warm, squishy lips. It didn't wake him, but he stirred and reached out – snatching up a pillow and pulling it tight against his chest. I even thought I saw a small grin form but couldn't be sure.
My mood was beyond happy, I couldn't wait for the day and what it held for me. Jacob gave me such strength and confidence. Gleaming, I danced out of the room and into the kitchen – I was gonna make Jacob breakfast in bed. Unfortunately, I had forgotten about one important detail – Billy. As I pranced around the kitchen in my sweatshirt and spandex, gathering up all the fixings for breakfast, Billy's wheelchair rolled into the kitchen.
"Renesmee?"
I spun around in shock. My cheeks flushed in shame, "Morning Billy."
He looked at me skeptically, "You're here early?"
"Um. . .Yeah." My blush deepened, I couldn't look him in the eyes.
"Did you stay the night?"
I was mortified. The moment just kept getting more and more awkward, "Yeah. I fell asleep watching a movie. Sorry."
"I see." He had a small smile pulling at the corner of his lips, "So what you maken?"
"German pancakes, eggs, and bacon." I spun away from him, avoiding his amused look. "Wanted to do something nice for Jacob."
"Sounds delicious Ness." He rolled over to the table with a book in hand.
Focusing on making breakfast, I relaxed a little. Cooking was something I enjoyed immensely, Grandma had taught me everything I knew, it was our special bonding time together. Over the few years of my life, my family had filled every minute of my time with learning and exploring new things. Each one of them had so much knowledge and life experiences to share but nothing prepared me for this – a romantic relationship.
None of them could truly prepare me because I wasn't like them – I wasn't like anyone. I didn't get to be a normal human teenager in any century. They all had their time to live outside of the supernatural and away from the vampire drama. Not me. I was the exception, a blessing they had claimed so many times before. But as my hormonal teenage thoughts took over, I didn't see myself as a blessing. The truth was a much easier thing for me to understand. And the truth has never been a beautiful thing when it came to my entrance into this world. Rose and Mom were the only people who wanted me, the only ones who truly loved me. That is love right? Protecting and standing up for someone – maybe? My thoughts had been so jumbled up, I wasn't sure my lefts from my rights. Grandpa had told me it would pass but it was only becoming worse.
