The days passed faster than I was expecting. It was comforting to be able to stay with Jacob after the incident. Billy agreed to it and Jacob didn't seem to mind sharing his bed. The time together had brought us closer together. It was nice having him there whenever I needed. My wrist had been broken pretty badly but like I suspected, I healed much quicker than a human. I was almost pain free and able to use it.

Wednesday night, Jacob was on border patrol with Brady and Quil. And because Billy was off on a trip with Grandpa Charlie, I was all alone. After Jacob left, I slumped down on the couch and flipped on the TV. There wasn't anything interesting on and I wanted to play the piano. It was something I did with my father and the thought made me sad. I hadn't gone longer than a weekend without seeing my family and their absence was beginning to weigh on me – being alone wasn't helping either.

The front door swung open, startling me out of my thoughts. Seth and Embry stumbled into the living room barking in laughter. It was infectious and instantly lifted my mood.

"What are you guys doing here?"

Seth smiled, "Jake informed us you were home alone tonight. Thought we'd come and keep you company. That okay?"

I pulled him into a hug, "It's perfect. What did you have planned?"

Embry smirked, "I got a date at seven. You and Seth are more than welcome to join." He winked at me, "Jake would have a fit with that."

I ignored his comment about Jacob, "Where you taken her?"

"The new movie house in Forks. Why?" he looked puzzled.

Grinning, I turned to Seth, "You wanna go?"

"What?" He looked at me a little startled with my request, "Embry was just messin. You know you aren't allowed to go into town."

Another one of my parents over protective rules. "I can do whatever I want. I'm tired of being cooped up. Let's go out?" I ask politely.

Embry and Seth looked at one another for a moment. Embry sighed, "Ness. I don't think Jake will be cool with that."

I frowned, "Well Jake had his chance to take me out first but he canceled due to my miss hap." I held up my arm to show off my annoying brace.

Seth sighed, "Fine. I'll take the heat. You go get ready."

My heart fluttered with excitement and I pulled Seth into a powerful hug and kissed his cheek, "Thank you. Thank you. Thank you, Seth. And I promise I can calm Jake down, there won't be any heat to take." Giddy, I skipped back to Jacob's room to change into something besides my lounge clothes.

As I danced down the hall Embry chuckled, "Jakes gonna have your balls man. You know how important it is for him to take her out."

Seth growled, "He still can but we can't make her stay here and...Come on. It's Ness. She's gonna do whatever she wants to do. There's no stopping her, might as well just let her come."

I shut the door and their voices became hushed. Ignoring their conversation about me, I headed to the bag Alice had brought over for me. Quickly, I pulled out my dark washed skinny jeans, red flannel shirt, leather jacket, and my boots. Once dressed, I pulled back my hair and braided it into one long, messy fishtail braid. Then, I moved to the small mirror on the wall and put on a light layer of makeup.

Happy with myself, I skipped back down the hall. Seth stood by the door but Embry was missing. Seth smiled, "Em went to go get his date. We're meeting them there. That okay?"
