Nahuel interrupted my thoughts, "Are you okay?"

"No."

"I did my best. Please, you have to believe me."

"I know. You did what I asked but no." I shook my head in confusion. "It's all wrong. None of this should have ever happened, there must have been other possibilities. And that year, you just left me here with Jane. The pain." I shuddered.

"I know. I'm sorry. I needed to make sure Huilen was safe. It was a mistake but I wasn't strong enough and Aro wouldn't let me leave with you. You wouldn't let that mutt go."

His comment about Jacob made my heart ache, as I relived

the pain. I attempted to change the topic, "I don't know you and you don't know me."

"That's not true. I love you so much. I never, ever meant to hurt you like this. Please don't do this to me, let me explain." He looked so desperate and pitiful.

"Do this to you? You have no right." He touched my arm but I pulled away. "I don't ever want to see you again. Leave me alone."

"I love you. I want you to be my wife. I would never do this to you if there were another way. You're my life, my whole world now. Please." His words ripped through my heart but I held my glare and turned away from him.

Aro looked at me and then at Nahuel. He nodded his head at someone near the door. The man came to our side in the blink of an eye. Aro's voice was level and hard, "Take him away."

"No you can't do this to me. We had a deal Aro, she's mine to take care of and the Cullen family is yours. You gave me your word."

"Change of plans. The deal is moot." Aro turned his back to Nahuel as the mysterious man pulled Nahuel through the doors and out of my life.

Sadness crept into my heart, but I shook off the unwanted emotion.

Aro smiled at me and placed his cold hand on my back, "It's all right young one. We will help you get through this." His smile was reassuring but I wasn't fooled.

"Why did you do that?" I paused before explaining, "Why did you give me back my memories?" I was so grateful for the act but didn't understand why and it had me questioning his intentions.

"You deserved to know the truth before we continue." His voice was level, empty of all emotions.

"Continue? I wish I could believe that but I don't. I need the truth, that's all I ever wanted." Nausea hit me hard as my

imagination played out the possibilities of what he wanted. Nothing good was going to come from this. "What are you gaining from this?"

He smiled at me, "I understand why you don't favor me but you will learn to trust me Renesmee."

"You're the man who ripped my family apart for your own sick games. You destroyed lives Aro. Trust will never be on the table." I took a moment, trying to stop the tears. "Do you even care? Is your soul that far gone?"

He was quiet for almost ten minutes, just looking at me, stunned by my words. "You remind me of her...I will not kill you."

Curiosity burned inside me but I held my tongue. If he wanted to spare my life at the moment, I wasn't going to stop him or mess the chance up. "Okay."
