The week before my date plans with Jacob moved slower than any week of my life. My dad and grandparents made it back safely but they seemed a little off. I didn't think too much about it though, because I was too excited for my date. My family was also excited for me, they liked that I was in a better mood all the time. It also helped that Jacob staid over at the cottage every night, it kept the nightmares away. Things with Jacob became amazing, we didn't fight anymore and I was happier than I had ever been before.

Finally, Friday came and the final bell rang, signally my freedom from school. Eli squealed and hurried out of school with me. Her and Brady had taken the next step in their relationship and it made them even more uncomfortable to be around. My date with Jacob was the only thing that distracted her from talking about Brady and it was nice having someone I could be real with. She gave me tips as we headed to my car.

Once safely in the vehicle, she continued, "Where is he taking you?"

Blushing, I looked away from her and to the road, "He won't tell me. He want's it to be a surprise but he told me to dress nice and that he's picking me up early."

"I'm so excited for you Ness." She clapped her hands together and wiggled around in her seat.

"Where am I taking you today? Home? Or to Brady's?"

She looked at me bashfully.

"Brady's again?" I laughed, "Do your parents even see you anymore?"

"You shush! At least your parents will let you go out and do whatever you want. You don't know how hard it is to deal with them sometimes."

I rolled my eyes, "My parents never sleep, can hear everything I do from miles away, and my father can read my mind." Looking at her I laughed, "You have no idea."

She smirked, "Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Whatever, poor little vampire girl."

Laughing, I turned back towards the road and focused, "It's harder than you think."

Her face turned serious, "Can I ask you something serious?"

My laughter seized, "Of course."

"You know that one day at the beach...when we were swimming?"

I nodded, "Yeah?"

"You said something about turning me into a vampire..."

My heart sunk, Brady was going to kill me, "What about it?"

She sighed, "Would you really do that?"

"Eli. No. I don't have venom, I couldn't turn you and even if I could, that is a bad idea."

Her featured softened in sadness, "Why is it such a bad idea? It would mean I could be with Brady forever and he wouldn't have to stop phasing."

"Vampires and werewolves are born enemies. It wouldn't work."

Her eyes squinted, "You and Jacob work."

"I'm only half vampire and it's different for us. I was born this way just like he was born with his werewolf gene."

"But I want Brady forever."

"No, I know you Eli. You want to have a life with him, give him a family and grow old with him."

"We could still..."

"No you couldn't." I took a deep breath, "I'm jealous of you because of what you can have with Brady and the family you can give him. I can't give those things to Jacob, I'll never get to see him as a father and he would be the best dad." I tired to lighten the moment, "Weirdly enough, I know that first hand."
