I Wouldn't Mind

Chapter 10 [Part 2]

{David's POV} 

My old friend and I, was done chatting. I looked around and saw Katy playing at the playground with some other kids. I'm really happy that Katy likes Gaby so much, she yearned for a big sister and now that she has met Gaby, I am pretty sure that she's very happy right now. I reached for my pockets and took the wristbands I just bought the other day. They were brown, and made of leather strings. They come in two's, the vendor told me it was a friendship bracelet. I'm not sure what has gotten into me but I bought them. 

Hmmm....

I searched for Gaby, and she was sitting alone in the bench. I came in running and joined her. 

"May kapatid na akong babae" she said as I sat. I just laughed at her, she looks astonished and happy at the same time. I'm pretty sure she was happy, she was glowing again, the glowing Gaby that I always see. I was holding onto the other wristband, I was already wearing the other one. Will she like it? She was just staring at me, I think she-- "Anong problema David?" she asked. 

I just knew she was noticing the worry in my face. I felt my face burned, this was happening a lot lately, I just smiled it out. "Ah, feeling ko kasi ang korny ko kapag ano eh..." I can't continue anymore, I was feeling too shy I looked away. I heard Gaby smirked, I looked back at her with my murder stare. She signaled me to go on and she covered her mouth, she loved it when I was feeling shy, she makes fun of me, making me more shy. I sighed and gathered all my strength to ask for her hand. 

"Give me your hand.." I reached out my left hand where I was wearing my wristband. 

"W-why?" she looked surprised, but she gave me her hand. She then notices my wristband, "Hey, I've never seen you wore that wristband before...It looks cute on you.." she complimented, she gave me a warm smile, and I smiled with her. 

"You have one too" I said as I was looking at her eyes, her eyes widened, as I was already adjusting the wristband in her hands. She was smiling as she was looking at her right hand with the wristband on. "It's very pretty...T-thank you." 

I was expecting to be teased until this day ends, but with great shock, Gaby hugged me by the neck. Para niya akong sinasakal pero yinayakap niya ako.

Gaby...... she was silent, her eyes were closed but she was smiling. 

"Thank you David, it's just that....ever since..." she sniffed, I decided to hold on to her arms. I can't move, If I move... I just I can't, I won't. Her tight grip loosened, but her arms were still wrapped around me, her head was on my shoulders, she didn't look at me, she was just closing her eyes, fighting tears again. 

"I'm really glad I have you, and Katy of course. I've been through a lot, I don't know why but you manage to take my pain away, not only that! There's just so much more to it. You saved me from Danny that bastard, you comforted me with your presence and your warm smile, Thank you David. I just... feel stronger when you're there. Don't go okay? Don't leave me hanging...." 

That time I can't speak, I didn't know what to say. I just hugged her back, I didn't care if anyone saw us. My friend needs me, my bestfriend needs me. 

She chuckled, "May little sister na ako, tapos may sweet pa akong bestfriend!" She hugged me tighter, then we laughed. "Are you okay now?" I asked, she nodded and she let go of me. 

"I'm sorry I just needed that hug." she giggled. "I just wish I have the kind of family you have" then she smiled at me again. I clearly know what was going on, Gaby never had a family but her brother alone. Her brother was out of the country, comes home every year and stays at their house for only two weeks. Her brother was managing their company branch abroad, her father had a second wife when her mother left them. Believing that her father had cheated on her mother, Gaby hated his father, causing her to be rebellious. She never liked her step mom, she described her stepmom to be a gold-digging witch. She only comes home whenever her brother was home. She didn't like the idea of being alone with his stepmom while his father was always out of town, managing other businesses of course.
