Shelby

"What are you doing here?" I protectively put my hands over my stomach.

"Listen, I honestly came here to apologize. You can call Max over here if you want."

I hesitated, but responded.

"What did you come here to say?"

"I'm really sorry, and congratulations to your new family member. I'm sure you and Max would make great parents to your child."

"Is that all? I need to do something."

"There's something else that I need to tell you."

"Which is?" I was kind of curious.

"It's about your parents."

"What about them?" I asked.

"Please, don't visit them. I know you don't want to hear this, but they made me do that to you. They offered to pay me to find you. I declined, but they know that you're in Washington. Keep the baby away from them."

"Why are you telling me this?"

"I know them. They don't know you're pregnant, and they also don't know about your youtube channel. But, they want you back in New York. And not to make celebrate." Tyler pulled up a side of his shirt. "They hit me. Both of them."

"I hate to say it, but you kind of deserved that." I told him.

"I know I did. And to make up for it, I am giving you and Max some money to help raise your child."

"Wow. Thanks." I was shocked. "Is there anything else?"

Tears were forming in Tyler's eyes. "D-d-do you k-know the gender?" He stuttered.

I gave him a sad smile. "One boy, one girl."

"Twins?" His voice broke.

"Yeah." I gave a weak smile.

"Here-" He handed me a few hundred dollar bills.

"Thank you." I said weakly.

I watched Tyler go to the door. But he stopped midway through the door.

"Hey, Shelby?" Tyler said.

"Yes?"

"I know this is meaningless now, but, I love you. I don't think I can stop."

"For what it's worth, I loved you for a while."

Tyler smiled. "Thank you, for everything you did."

"I guess I owe you a thank you, as well."

"You were the one who got me to start youtube, even if you forced me to. But you also got me to meet Max. And because of that, I'm forever grateful."

Tyler nodded at me, then proceeded to leave.

I looked at the money in my hands.

600 dollars.

I could buy so many diapers.

I smiled softly.

But my eyes landed on my ring.

My very special ring.

I walked into the bathroom and washed the ring off.

I looked at it again.

It was still dented and bruised.

But, it was shinier.

And prettier.

I smiled even brighter.

Until I heard a loud noise from outside.
