The Thread of Fate | Midorima Shintarō x Reader
Soulmate!AU where you have a knot on your pointer and when you're near your soulmate, a thread appears and continues to the other end.
-- A single thread is tied on a person's pointer, a thread that cannot be cut until they meet the other end. --

"A long thread, called 'The Thread of Fate' has been around since the era where it all started. The first humans that were made in this world, man and woman, had a thread connected to each others' hands, specifically pointers.
It is connected, though not seen by the human eye but when these two are close with each other, it will show itself and they can follow the string that was bestowed upon humans to find their one true pairing. Of course, only the two can see it.
When they do meet, they'll hold each others' hands as a promise to the heavens that they will be together as destined, however, if one cuts the seen thread, that person's thread will wither first before the other one, by doing this, you CANNOT love each other or anyone. This is why it needs to be mutual. Even if they do find someone, it will never work out.
That's how the gods write out our stories. We do have free will, to cut or not to cut is our choice. If you do not follow the love story that was written out for you, you'll never find the love story that you want. " Your teacher discussed your lesson on 'Mutual Understandings' under the subject 'Health'.
Honestly, you never believed this kind of shit that was going on in your universe. You always imagined an alternate universe where you can freely choose who you'll love and not even the gods can stop you.
"The cut 'The Thread of Fate' is only a theory, but it was said that long ago, someone did it, and they did ended up being alone. If someone wants to try it, be my guest and offer your love life for the future generations to learn." Your teacher joked.
Yeah, why not?
"Class dismissed." Your teacher spoke.
At last, another day finished.
You stood up and went straight out of your classroom.
Let's say you were one of the normals in your classroom. You don't talk to people when you don't need to. No one bullies you nor despises you. Nor likes you. It was all neutral. And you loved it that way. You always had headphones on your ears that's why you don't seem to be an approachable person.
You looked around your school and all you could see were love birds that were tied around each others' strings. Literally. It disgusted you.
You're one of the few people in the world that didn't like this. "What if I met the other end, would I change my perspective?" You thought to yourself as you looked at the knot on your pointer. You still couldn't see where it lead so you weren't hoping that you would see it anytime soon.
You weren't excited like the other girls were, you were merely curious. Questions always went on your head about that person on the other end of the thread.
You were just a realist (even though this was your known reality). You knew problems exist. Even your parents fight, but of course, the gods fix it.
Because they were destined.
"Oh dear gods, what kind of person have you connected me with?" You said before you crashed on your bed. You sighed and slept the rest of the day away.
