At the age of 21, Maine finished college. She then applied to the top 10 medical schools and was accepted by all of them. She chose a school in San Francisco.

When she arrived in San Francisco, she immediately informed Miggy of where she will be going. On the other hand Miggy is working part-time with WHO unit.

"That's wonderful babe." Miggy said on the other line. "I'm nearly finished with my medical courses. I'll stay with WHO for a little while. But in a few years, I promise you, we will be practicing together."

T-O-G-E-T-H-E-R. That's the magic word for Maine.

"Maine, I'm badly wanted to see you. If I can get a vacation for a few days, can you meet me in Chicago?"

Maine didn't hesitate at all, "Yes. Of course I will be there."

The two young couple manage to squeeze their time so that they can meet up. They both travelled long, but it was all worth it. They spent 3 incredible days at a small hotel in Manhattan. It was as if they never parted all those years. Their connection was still that strong. They talked about their adventures in India, Africa and other parts of the world. At night, it was a celebration of their love as they cuddle up and make love until the wee hours of the morning.

Maine wanted to ask Miggy to go back with her to San Francisco but she knows that what Miggy does is important to her. What's more important than helping the needy. Her admiration for Miggy is growing as time passes by. She sees her father in him as they both love helping other people.

On their last day together, Maine was getting dressed when she asked Miggy. "Where will you be assigned Miggy?"

"Either Bangladesh or Ghana."

She knows that he will go there to save lives and heal the sick. She desperately wanted to make him stay. She held on to him tightly and closed her eyes.

Miggy sensing that Maine is somehow having a hard time, he immediately pacified her worries. "Wherever I will go, I will always think of you. And I will be looking forward to the day that I will see you again."

As time goes by, Miggy and Maine try to reach out and be with each other during special occasions, Maine's birthday, Christmas, New Year. It's either both will fly to a certain destination to meet up and spend some days together Miggy will visit her for a day in San Francisco.

"Hi Babe, where are you?" Maine says.

"I'm in Gabon. Actually, it's a long way to Chicago. Can you meet me there tomorrow?"

It usually takes a while before Maine get to understand what he means.

"You mean we can spend the holidays together?" Maine asked.

"If only you wanted to." Miggy says.

"Oh, yes, yes, yes!" was Maine's reply every time.

Miggy usually travels half the world to be with Maine. And each time they meet the magic becomes stronger and stronger. Time stood still for both of them. The same routine goes on for the next 3 years.

One time while they were together Miggy spoke "Next year, I will be in charge of my own team at WHO."

"When you finish school, I want us to get married." He said with finality.

All those years he worked hard as a doctor in a Third World countries, like her father and his father. Doing wonderful things. And at last he's coming home with her.

When they were not together, they usually exchange letters. But on the last year, Miggy's letters became seldom. When he writes, it's usually short and curt. Maine just interpreted it as he's busy and had a ton of work on his and. Besides, he's leading his own team. She knows that that responsibility entails, and he's so proud of him.

Maine was reading Miggy's message for the seventh time on a Friday morning. She and Valeen had the weekend off given that they were already halfway their residency. They have spent two and half years in that hospital going on duty more than staying at their house. But everything was worth it.

The message was: "Arriving in San Francisco on Sunday afternoon. Can't wait to see you. Love, Miggy."

After Maine read for the eighth time, she immediately went to Valeen's room and shook her until she wakes up.

"Miggy's coming. He's coming here on Sunday!" she shriek loudly.

Valeen immediately sat up and was also excited for her friend. "That's great! I badly wanted to meet your prince charming. How long since you last saw him?"

"Two years. But I always keeps in touch."

"You're lucky girl."

"You're the one who's lucky. You and Jerald have been together since that afternoon at the café." Maine pointed out.

"Well, it's true. It's been more than a year. But still he's the same, sweet, sensitive guy." Valeen said dreamily.

And since both ladies were already up. They decided to eat breakfast outside. While they were eating, Jerald joined them. And so they filled him in with what's happening.

"Wow! Finally, we will meet your man." Jerald said.

"Yes! You'll meet him soon." Maine said.

"Well, you must prepare. Why don't we throw him a welcome home party?" Valeen suggested.

"Sounds a good idea babe." Jerald agreed and kissed Valeen lightly on the lips.

"Also, you better get ready yourself." Valeen pointed out to Maine.

"Me... What do you mean?" Maine asked.

"Well, you better go to the parlor and have you hair fixed. Also, you should buy a new dress and a new nighties." Valeen said knowingly.

"Hahahahahaha..." Maine laugh out loudly. "Seriously?"

"Well, you do want to make yourself presentable right? Also, your first night together should be memorable..." Valeen added on a teasing voice.

Maine thought that Valeen do have a point. And so Jerald reluctantly agreed to let the two ladies bond. They then agreed that on Sunday morning, the three of them will do the preparation for Miggy's arrival.
