Chapter 10

"What the hell, Bradley!" Tom yelled.

"Are you serious? Have you seen what she's hiding?" Bradley replied, angrily. The whole room fell silent, except for them. Tom glanced for a second at Tori then looked back at Bradley.

Faye and I peered over at Tori who was sitting innocently on the floor, blinking through tears.

"I'm sorry, I didn't think it was that serious!" She said. I looked at her arm, which was stained with her own blood, from a zombie taking a bite. The bite itself was green and full of mucus, and her forearm was gradually bruising all over. It didn't look good.

"Do you not remember what happened yesterday?" Bradley hissed at Tom. Tom stayed silent. "When we watched Jack die?" Bradley was bright red and I could see his eyes were getting watery, "When one of those creatures bit him? And we couldn't do anything to help him?" Bradley calmed down a bit, "When you are bitten, you die. She's been bitten. And then what happens when people die?" Bradley slouched against the wall, "...they turn,"

I couldn't believe what Bradley had just said. Tori is going to die. She's going to go in such a horrible, torturous way. I wouldn't wish a death like that on my worst enemy.

Faye looked startled and hurried over to Tori who was weeping with tears. Faye tried to calm her down but she wasn't getting very far.

I just stood, frozen, shocked. My breathing became heavy and I just couldn't believe what was happening. If a zombie bites you, you die and become one.

Everyone in the room was almost terrified. We didn't know how long Tori had left. I looked worriedly at Lauren who was sitting with her knees up and crying in the corner. I saw Lewis and Josh staring into space, thinking. Bradley and Tori were shaken and upset. And Tom, he was away from everyone else.

I broke the silence. "Tori?" She looked up at me. "Are you in pain?" I went and sat next to her. She hesitated for a second.

"A bit," I knew she was lying, as she didn't want anyone to worry about her. I looked around at the rest of the group.

"Is there a first aid kit in here?" I asked. Tom was nearest the cupboard but he found nothing. "The infirmary is near the science classrooms. Maybe we could..."

"We can get the medicine and then move over to the science block," Josh said. I nodded and looked around for the groups support. They all chorused a 'yes'.
