Your jaw dropped. "Phoenix?! That far to do your conference? This is ridiculous, Toshi. That's too far, even if it's for 5 days." You complained but you still helped him pack his stuff.

Ushijima felt his chest tightened as he had to lie to you, his beloved wife, about the so-called conference. He was sent to do an undercover to investigate a Russian drug dealer who is about to sell it to a rich Spanish business. Ushijima knew if he told you everything, things won't go his way since he suspected you'll stop him from doing his job. In other words, he didn't want to worry you.

"It's only for 5 days, (Name). You'll be okay. Tendou is going to help you with anything, won't you, Tendou?"

"Why won't Tendou take your place?" You selfishly asked, gesturing to Tendou, Ushijima's partner, casually leaning against your door frame.

"That's because captain thinks I'm reckless in conference and I'm not good with talking smart unlike your beloved husband here." Tendou snickered sending a wink to Ushijima.

"Tendou, please. Go downstairs, grab yourself a Coke and smile for the day." Ushijima pushed, trying to shoo him out of the room so he could talk to you properly.

Tendou raised his hands. "Fine, fine.." He disappeared for a moment and poke his head in the room again. "Do you want one too, Ushijima?"

Ushijima sighed. "No. Babe, do you want one?"

"I'm fine," You answered curtly. "Tendou, don't mess up the kitchen and make sure Aoi don't run around the house naked."

Tendou cringed. "Uh. Yeah, I'll do that." He went downstairs, leaving you two alone.

"Toshi, come back home safely, alright? Don't stare at another lady or I'll beat the shit out you." You threatened.

"I won't, I promise." He kissed your lips. He grabbed his bag after finishing packing and hugged you before he leaves. Tendou joined you.

"Tendou, he isn't going to Phoenix, is he?"

"How would you know?" He said with no hesitation. "You don't trust your husband?"

"I checked his airline ticket, Tendou. He isn't going to Phoenix at all; he's staying in a hotel in the city. Don't forget I was also a detective until I gave birth to Aoi."

"I hate profilers."

"And I hate detectives who aren't good at lying."

Ushijima was getting so much stress thanks to his material witness who is driving him crazy. She was feeding her dogs and right now, her dogs were pooping everywhere dirtying the room floor.

"The staffs are going to kill you." He told her, cleaning up the poop instead.

"Don't need to, Ushijima. The drug dealers would do the job if we stay here longer."

"I told you; my house is a mess. I have a daughter at home." He sighed, already missing his Aoi. "God, I missed her."

"Aww, I want to meet her once this is over.. if I'm still alive, though."

"You will, Ayako. I'm good at my job." Ushijima finished cleaning the floor and washed his hands. "My wife didn't know about you. Even if I tell her eventually, she'll assume I'm cheating on her."

"How is she like?"

"She's..." He paused and smiled, picturing you in his head. "She's an amazing person. I laid my eyes on her the moment she walked into the interview. I was the one who confirmed her as being a detective and she's amazing at her job. She's a profiler, so she travels a lot to help other Police Departments to catch criminals. We both dated for 4 months after knowing each other and... For 4 years, I decided that we both should be committed as one. A month later, I proposed to her on the same day she announced we're having a baby. I was happy and still am."

Ayako cried. "THIS IS TOO MUCH, USHIJIMA-SAN!"

"Why are you-"

"Ha, I knew it!" You burst through the door, surprising your husband and Ayako. "You were on bed with another woman! And you said you'd be in Phoenix! Toshi, you liar!"

It took him 5 minutes to register you're in the same room as him. He panicked. "(N-Name), what are you doing here?!"

"You're on undercover and on the same bed as her?! How cold, Toshi! Why not knock her up while you have the chance?!"

"(Name), calm down!" He held you. "This is Ayako, a witness. Her best friend was murdered when she was with the drug dealers and she witnessed the whole thing. She's a threat to them now."

"It's the truth." Ayako butt in.

"Shut up," You sassed. "9 months after holding baby Aoi in my arms and you're already opening a case without me, Toshi? I'm still a detective too, you know!"

"You're on 8 months leave, (Name). You know that."

"And now it's over! Why won't you just tell me the truth?" You sadly asked.

"I don't want to worry you, (Name)." He held your hand in his, giving it tight squeeze. "Knowing you, you would be really worried and you're still taking care of Aoi. It's stressful for you; moreover the job will drive you crazy."

"Please, I've been with you in the precinct for 4 years. How do you think I managed to handle my stress?"

"Are you insulting me?"

"Umm, I'll just go..." Ayako slowly walked out, leaving you two alone in the hotel room. She shut the door.

Ushijima turned to you, a relieved look on his face. "Ayako and baby Aoi aren't here, so... since we're in the hotel room, why not we..." He trailed off.

You caught the message. "Yeah, let's do it."

You two jumped on the bed... and sleep like you never did before.
