I don't get butterflies near you.
I don't feel like a little kid who just got a lollipop or a sticker.
My heart doesn't race when I see you.
No,
it's different,
and far more meaningful.
Instead,
I feel like a kid that fell asleep cuddling their favorite stuffed animal.
You don't make my heart race,
instead you calm me.
You're my best friend,
and sometimes my worst enemy.
But at the same time you're soothing,
like singing a lullaby to a restless infant.
If I'm scared,
you calm me,
and pull me back into reality.
Reassuring me that everything really truly is okay.
You are my comfort.
You,
are my security.
