Annabeth sat at the dinner table with her ward mates Sarah and Liam. "Annabeth you have to eat something eventually it's ok to be nervous" said the house keeper Mary.
"She has every right in the world to be nervous who would want to be stuck with some useless whelp for 4 years" said Sarah. Liam was about to say something when Annabeth shook her head no. The last thing she needed today was Sarah pissed off and getting into another fight.
"I'm sure we are all nervous you'd have to be stupid not to be" said Liam with a encouraging look. Annabeth knew Liam was trying to help but he wasn't everyone knew Sarah would be trained by Lady Grace the head assistant of democratic services. Liam would also undoubtedly be accepted to be trained as a knight by the battle master Sir Axl.
It seemed everyone knew what they were good at and what they were to be trained as except Annabeth. She was quick on her feet a good thinker and could go a hour without being seen if she chose to but this filled no description of any craft.
"I think I'm gonna turn in" said Annabeth rising from her seat.
"Just except it no name no craft master will ever want you you'll be sent to the plowing fields for sure" said Sarah. That struck home because that was Annabeth's worst fear being a farmer it was so uneventful with no freedom what so ever. Instead of heading for her room Annabeth ran out the door and walked into the forest. She walked into the thickest part then found a rope tied to a rock.
Annabeth untied it and pulled on it opening a door way into a humongous Boulder the size of a small cabin. Annabeth climbed inside and lit the candle she kept by the door way. She picked up a slip of paper that said the one thing that always kept her going "Her parents died heroes keep this one safe she will be a good one".
