The next day Annabeth stood in the main hall of Castle Gallen and stood in line with the other kids who's assignments were going to be given. "Alright first one Sarah Altmen step forward" ordered the Baron. Sarah stepped forward and curtsied a and waited for the Baron to speak. "Mrs Altmen what's your preference" asked the Baron. Lady Grace in her elegant dress stepped forward "My lord I would be very happy to have Sarah as a apprentice". The Baron nodded his agreement and Sarah stepped to say her thanks to Lady Grace. Annabeth was next to Liam who rolled his eyes in a mocking gesture and Annabeth made a weak attempt at a smile.
Annabeth was startled by a feeling that someone was watching and glanced over her shoulder to see Jasmine the legendary runner. Annabeth felt a shiver run up her back the runners were a strange group they could move with incredible speed and were the deadly with their ninja stars never missing their mark. Some people thought they even had immortal powers Jasmine caught Annabeth's gaze and turned away like she was afraid to look. That's when Annabeth heard the Barons voice and realized she was up next. "Alright Annabeth um I don't see a last name" said the Baron confused.

Annabeth was slightly embarrassed and wasn't all to pleased with Lady Grace reminding everyone she was a orphan. "Alright Annabeth do you have any preference" asked the Baron. If she was ever asked about what she said next she probably couldn't even explain where the courage had come from. "I want to be a knight" said Annabeth without hesitation. The room froze and every pair of eyes were thrown on her every one looked more than shocked even the Runner.
