The runners apprentice

Chapter 9

Sarah looked stunned she had no idea why Annabeth would wanna help her especially after all she did to her. Annabeth felt the stinging pain in her cheek but still found the strength to stand. "Get out of here runner this is our business" said one of the courtiers. "Is that so because it seems to me since you hit my friend it makes it my business" said Annabeth. The courtier studied the girl she didn't seem to be armed but that didn't mean she wasn't dangerous. "Make it your business if you like do you want another" asked the courtier raising her whip. "Go ahead" said Annabeth making sure to block the whip from hitting Sarah.
As it turns out the girls temper was a bit more than she could have guessed because Annabeth was thrown to the ground as the courtiers tackled her. Annabeth realized as soon as she hit the ground she couldn't hold them off especially since she was armed with nothing but a pocket knife. A idea started to form in Annabeth's mind maybe she couldn't hold them off but possibly Jasmine could. Annabeth felt the whip strike her in the back and the other courtiers foot go into her stomach. "Sarah go get Jasmine" yelled Annabeth as she cut the ropes holding the other girl.
Sarah didn't hesitate as soon as she was free she dashed straight for the town to go looking for Jasmine or any sort of help for that matter knowing Annabeth wouldn't last long. Annabeth felt her strength slipping away as the whip stroke every inch of her body and the other girl punched the life out of her. Annabeth wasn't sure how she found herself here maybe it was pity for Sarah or maybe it was hours of Jasmine's training but all she knew was she couldn't let her master down not now. Annabeth took whatever strength was left and swung her legs fast enough to trip the courtier punching her but unfortunately that gave just enough time for the other courtier to raise the whip. Annabeth knew this would be the final blow and it was coming in fast.
