Jasmine led Annabeth to a small clearing in the back of her cabin where targets were set up at different lengths. Annabeth was about to ask a question when Jasmine held up her hand to silence her and handed her what appeared to be a throwing star. "These are our preferred weapon what I personally like about them is that they always come back" said Jasmine. Jasmine picked up a throwing star and pulled her arm back and with one swift movement it struck the middle target. Jasmine handed a pack to Annabeth for her to strap on her belt. Annabeth pulled back her arm when something had occurred to her.
"Do you have the leather fingerless gloves" asked Annabeth looking over her shoulder. She was smart enough to realize that those gloves Jasmine wore had the purpose of protecting your hands when you threw. Jasmine didn't look to thrilled at that suggestion and Annabeth realized why. "You didn't where the gloves the first time did you" asked Annabeth in a amused voice. "What I did doesn't matter" said Jasmine eyeing her carefully. But Annabeth wouldn't be put off so she pressed on as she tightened the gloves. "I bet that really hurt" teased Annabeth really pleased with herself. Jasmine glared at her for one long second then said "are you going to shoot or not". Annabeth knew she should probably shut up but couldn't resist having one less word.
"I bet you wore them the second time" said Annabeth who was quite pleased that Jasmine had once made a mistake,
Jasmine eyed her apprentice she knew on the outside she was scowling but inside she was actually quite amused. "Very funny now anyway take your shot" said Jasmine not leaving open of further comments. Annabeth pulled her arm back and eyed her target then shot the throwing star hit the very edge of the target but still had some force. "Try using your back muscles" suggested Jasmine. Annabeth threw again and this time the star hit a little further towards the center. "Not bad you have good form but can you guess the golden rule" asked Jasmine. "Practice" said Annabeth grinning at her mentor.
