The next week went by in a blur, and the next thing I knew, I was at Mark's New Year's Eve party. The mansion was packed full of teenagers from several schools, including Dahyun's.
I was dancing with my sister, when I was suddenly spun around to face Chaeyoung, who had showed up out of nowhere.
"Sana unnie!" the brunette squealed as she engulfed me in a hug. "Mark told me you were here, and I was so excited because I just had to see you! How've you been? Tzuyu told me that you guys are talking again. That's good because I hate it when Tzuyu's upset, and she was absolutely miserable when she wasn't talking to you," she rambled.
I chuckled at her jumpiness. "Chae, calm down. I'm fine, and I'm glad to see you, we haven't talked in a while."
"I know," she said. "Tomorrow, we should go out somewhere. Oh, let's go shopping! Tzuyu will take us. I'll go ask!" She took off running before I could reject her idea.
I felt a hand grab my arm from behind and turn me around. "Hey, you're Sana, right?" a guy who I vaguely recognized asked.
"Yeah, why?" I inquired.
The guy smiled at me. "I'm BamBam. I'm a friend of Mark's. You want to dance?"
I frowned. "Actually, I was about to go find someone," I lied. Something about this guy made me uncomfortable. He seemed like the type who wouldn't take no for an answer.
Bambam didn't let my rejection ruin his mission. "Come on. Just one dance? It'll be fun, I swear."
I pried his fingers from my arm. "Thanks, but no thanks." I turned to leave, but he caught my hand and spun me back around.
"Come on, babe. I just want one dance," he insisted. "One dance and we'll see where it takes us."
I glared at him. I knew he was the type to not take no for an answer. "We won't have to see where it takes us because it's not happening." I yanked my arm from his grasp. "Now leave me alone."
He grabbed hold of my wrist, his grip extremely tight. "Stop being such a stubborn girl and just dance with me. It's not like I'm going to kill you or something."
I scowled. "It doesn't matter if you won't kill me. My point is: I have better things to do with my life than dance with an arrogant prick like you."
He opened his mouth to retort, but he was interrupted by a different, male voice saying, "Bam, leave her alone. She doesn't want to be bothered by something as disgusting as you."
Bambam glared at the newcomer. "And by that you mean you want her for yourself?"
The newcomer put his arm around my shoulders. "Nope. But Mark wants her, and I doubt he'll appreciate you messing with his girl."
Bambam reluctantly released my arm. "Whatever," he spat before disappearing into the crowd.
I looked up at the guy standing beside me. "Thanks," I said.
He beamed at me. "No problem. Anything to keep Bambam from getting what he wants. I'm Jaebum or just JB in short."
"Sana." I introduced myself.
His smile widened. "I know. Tzuyu doesn't shut up about you. Come on, she's waiting in the kitchen."
I frowned. "I thought Mark wanted me."
JB shook his head. "Nah. I just said that because I knew if I told Bambam it was Tzuyu who wanted you, he wouldn't have let you go just to piss Tzuyu off."
I nodded. "Well, that makes sense," I agreed as we entered the kitchen.
As soon as Tzuyu caught sight of me, she smiled and gently pushed away the girl who was hanging on her arm. She approached me and quickly kissed my cheek. "Hey beautiful."
