"Get up, unnie."
"No."
"Get up."
"Nooo."
"Get up!"
"Noooooo."
"Get up you lazy squirrel," Dahyun spat, shoving me again.
I snuggled further into the blankets. "I'm just gonna stay here until absolutely necessary."
She rolled her eyes. "UMMA! UNNIE WON'T GET UP!"
Minutes later, out mother entered my room, a dishtowel in hand. She quickly whipped it at me, stinging my rear even through the barrier the blanket made. "Get up, Zaki. You've been in bed for three days. Go do something with your life," she scolded.
I groaned. "Do I have to?"
She glared at me. "Go see the little blond one. His mother keeps calling your phone, telling me he misses you."
I pouted. "My baby? Aww! Okay, I'll go see him."
Mom turned to leave the room. "Good. And find somewhere else to sleep tonight. I'm sick of you moping around my house."
"Harsh," I muttered when she was gone.
Dahyun shrugged. "You know she's just worried about you; I am too. You've been moping for almost a month. I don't understand that. I mean, Christmas is in three days, you should be happy and in the Christmas spirit. Instead, you're sad and lonely and depressed looking. What the hell happened?" (Obvi I changed the dates :P)
I threw back my covers and climbed out of bed. "Nothing."
"Liar," she accused. "Tell me. I'm your sister, and I deserve to know these things."
I didn't want to tell her the truth, so I distracted her by changing the subject. "You know, those jeans make your calves look amazing."
"Nice try. Tell me," she said, not going along with the new topic.
I tried again. "I have to go see my boyfriend. I haven't seen him since Saturday, and he misses me."
She groaned. "Unnie, seriously! Just tell me. Why don't you trust me?"
I sighed. "Dahyun, I do trust you. But this is something that I can handle on my own, so I'm not going to bother you with it. Okay?"
"But—"
"I promise when I need you, I'll let you know, alright?"
She sighed, finally admitting defeat. "Fine. You better, or I swear we're going to fight." She tossed her hair over her shoulder and left the room dramatically.
I called after her, "I love you, Hyunnie!"
"I love you too, unnie!"
I grinned to myself. She wasn't mad.
"Baby!" I exclaimed, picking up Jackson and spinning him around.
"My love!" he managed through his giggles. "I missed you!"
I stopped spinning and adjusted him so he was on my hip. "I heard," I said as I walked to the kitchen. "Sorry I didn't come over. Things have been a little rough for me lately."
He curled the end of my ponytail around one of his little fingers. "It's okay, love. I know you didn't mean to makes me upset." He tugged as hard as he could on my hair. "But don't do it again," he said sternly.
I pouted at him. "Okay, I'm sorry. And that hurt, you know?" I set him on the island and rubbed at my scalp. "You didn't have to do that."
He shrugged, swinging his feet back and forth. "Sorry love."
