Her funeral was set.
Marinette Dupain-Cheng's official funeral would be set on the day of her birth.
What would've been considered a day of joy and excitement was now considered a day to mourn and cry over the once lively girl.
After her funeral, a special ceremony will take place to honor the deceased superhero who was known to always save the day. Nobody was sure whether to expect her partner to be present at the ceremony.
The boy was still grieving for his lady, his partner, his bugaboo, his beautiful princess. He kept having flashbacks and nightmares to when he let Volpina kill her.
"Adrien, her funeral is tomorrow, if you want to go... It could really give you some closure," Natalie told him.
"I don't want closure! I want Marinette!" Adrien yelled, his eyes red from crying.
Natalie nodded and closed the door.
"What should I do, Sir? He doesn't even want to go to her funeral," Natalie said to Gabriel once she entered his room.
With a hand on his chin and a thoughtful expression, he plotted.
Plotted for his son.
Gabriel told Natalie he had it under control and left the room. He walked out of his mansion, called his limo driver, and was driven to the park.
As expected, he saw the young DJ boy with the red hat with earphones in. He sat beside him and made eye contact, causing Nino to bite his lip and take off his earphones quickly.
"Is there something you need, Dude, I mean Sir?" Nino asked him nervously.
"Yes," he replied.
Nino gulped and nodded.
"I need you to make sure my son can come to Miss Dupain-Cheng's funeral tomorrow. He needs closure but he refuses to let her go," Gabriel told him.
"Yes Sir," he responded quickly and nervously.
"Now come, my boy. I need to have you driven to Adrien," he said, putting a hand to his shoulder.
With his gigantic round eyes and nervous smile, he walked with Gabriel to the car. He was curious as to why Mr. Agreste finally might've allowed him into his house once more.
The whole car ride home was awkward. Nino kept glancing at Gabriel the whole time while he kept his composure and looked out the window the entire time.
When they arrived back at the mansion, Gabriel nodded at Nino. Immediately, he knew to go to Adrien's room to help him.
"Hey bro!" Nino exclaimed, practically bursting his usually contagious bright energy all over the room.
Adrien jumped up in surprise.
"Nino? What are you doing here? Didn't my father-" he started to ask.
"Nah- nope! Don't give me any of that! Give your Uncle Nino a hug, little man!" Nino yelled, his smile expanding from ear to ear.
"Uncle? What the heck are you doing, Nino? You aren't even my-" Adrien started to say, laughing as he was interrupted by Nino grabbing him and giving him a big bear hug.
"Now, now, little man! That's no way to talk to your Uncle Nino," he scolded.
Gabriel facepalmed as he eavesdropped to the whole conversation.
Did I make the right decision with this kid? He thought to himself, his face in his hands as he rubbed the bridges of his nose.
Of course I did... Gabriel wore a thin smile when he noticed Adrien was laughing once more.
He hadn't even seen Adrien's smile in the years since he felt he had to take on both roles of the mother and father, then failed miserably. Gabriel hated that he killed off his father role for Adrien. It killed him to see his son so down, but with Nino around, it seemed like Adrien could smile once more.
