Why haven't you questioned me?

Luke sat on the plane, nervous and pissed off. Michael and Ashton had talked all morning about Gucci and as much as it made him happy to have then so eager to work he wanted Ashton nowhere near Michael.
Luke had contemplated not letting Michael run Gucci but after reading over the packet on Michael that Ashton had given him it was a hard call. He would much rather just convince Ashton to stay but how? It was obvious Ashton was considering Michael's offer and that scared luke. Ashton had by far been the best assistant he'd ever had. He was also the closest thing he had to a best friend.

"You okay?" Ashton asked looking at Luke with concern.

"I'm fine." Luke snapped. He wasn't in the mood for Ashton to be overly sweet and caring.

"I can see that." Ashton chuckled.

Luke didn't respond as the plane started to take off.

Luke gripped his seat and clenched his eyes, concentrating on his breathing.

"It's okay. Here." Ashton whispered to Luke.

Luke looked over to see Ashton holding out a coke and ginger cookies.

"It helped with your nausea last time." Ashton smiled.

Luke sighed but took the coke and cookies. Damn Ashton and his sweet demeanor.

Ashton was glad when Luke took the drink and snack. He knew Luke was pissed at him for even humoring Michael's offer but Ashton truly hated working for Luke. Michael would at least be pleasant to work for and Ashton didn't have to worry about falling for his boss.
He looked over at Luke then who was glaring down at his hands which were in fists in his lap.
Ashton definitely wouldn't have to worry about falling for his boss if he worked for Michael and he could possibly get over Luke in the process.

Ashton hung up the phone before putting the receiver to voicemail. He was exhausted from the trip but Luke wanted to catch up on a few things at the office.

"Still at the office?"

Ashton sighed at Michael's text.

"Yes..."

"I wouldn't have made you work if I were your boss." Michael responded.

Ashton huffed tossing his phone on the desk without responding. He knew he'd piss Luke off and never work for GQ if he went to work for Michael but he didn't honestly know if Luke would let him work for GQ. Ashton let his head drop into his hands.

"Torn about leaving me?" Luke snapped causing Ashton to bolt up.

"Uh, N-No, I'm just tired." Ashton lied.

"Why haven't you questioned me?" Luke blurted just then. He immediately wished he hadn't asked but it was too late now.

"What do you mean?" Ashton frowned.

"About last night, why haven't you asked me why I kissed you?" Luke snapped.

"You explained it last night, you had too much to drink and I'm easy to be around." Ashton shrugged looking unfazed by the question though his heart was racing in his chest.

"I didn't think you'd believe that." Luke raised a brow.

"Was it true?" Ashton asked dreading the answer to follow.

"Yes." Luke lied.

"Then I believe it." Ashton said forcing a smile.

"Go home." Luke said suddenly.

"W-what?" Ashton frowned.

"You said you're tired. Go home. I'll see you first thing tomorrow." Luke said walking back towards his office.
