Lucian’s POV

“Why?” I asked, not understanding why he was suddenly being, well, nice.

“Well, I figured that you and I ought to spend some time together.” He said. “I mean, Trisha’s pretty crazy about you. And I thought I better get to know you. She’s still my best friend, after all.”

“Okay…” I said slowly, unsure as to whether I should believe him. It had been over four months, why was he deciding this now? “Sure.” I said, instead of asking anything that may start an argument.“Um, you wanna come in?”

“I’ve got to get back to university now, but we could meet tonight.” He said. “Trisha’s got to stay late after her work to try some new clothes and talk with her new boss, she’s a tough lady from what she told me, so she won't be home until late anyway. Didn’t she tell you that?” I frowned and shook my head. “Well, I’m sure she just forgot. How about we meet at the bar just round the corner, Oltenia?”

“Um, yeah I guess that’s okay.” I said slowly. “And Trisha’s not going to be home ‘til late?”

“Nope.” He smiled and I nodded.

“Okay, I’ll meet you there at seven?” I asked and he smiled and nodded.

“That’s perfect.” He said with a grin.

His enthusiasm sent up a little warning flag, but I ignored it.

“See you later.” He said and then he was gone. I blinked in confusion but then shook it off.

At half six, I set out down the street. I was a bit cautious about what I was doing, but he’d been right about Trisha not coming home, so I had to believe that his intentions were honest. I went into Oltenia and quickly scanned around but I couldn’t see Alex. After sighing, I went over to the bar and ordered a drink and sat back to wait.

“Hey.” Someone said from beside me after about ten minutes. I turned, but I’d already figured out that it wasn’t Alex. It was a small, brunette girl, who looked to be about twenty-two.

“Hi.” I smiled politely, but then turned back to my drink.

“I’m Ciara.” She said and I bit my lip. I didn’t want to be mean and tell her that I wasn’t interested, but I honestly wasn’t. The only person I was interested in now, was Trisha.

“Lucian.” I said, without even turning towards her.

“What are you doing in Canada?” She asked and I finally turned towards her.

“I’m on a modeling job.” I told her. “And now I’m staying-‘’

“You’re a model?” She asked, cutting me off before I could mention my love’s name.

“Um, yeah.” I said and she smiled and let her hand trail from my shoulder down to my elbow.

“Mmm, I can tell…” She smiled, and I shifted slightly uncomfortably.

“Uh, I’m meant to be meeting someone here, so…” I said, trying to hint at the fact that I wanted her to leave.

“Oh, well, I’ll just wait here until your friend comes, okay?” She asked and I sighed before turning back to my drink.

I’d never had to say no to anyone before, whenever someone hit on me, I was usually more than keen to say yes. And I felt suddenly awkward trying to let this girl now that I wasn’t interested. Bad idea?
