Lucian’s POV
I knew this had gone far enough. Ciara had suddenly moved a lot closer to me and I was kind of taken back by it. I didn’t know what to do. She was murmuring something, but I wasn’t paying attention. I was just trying to think of how to remove myself from this situation. Alex should be here any minute, and if he sees me chatting like this with some random girl, I knew he’d think I was cheating on Trisha.
“Look…” I finally said, cutting Ciara off half way through her sentence. “I’m flattered, but I’ve got a girlfriend.” Ciara’s expression didn’t change and I frowned, slightly confused. Deciding against asking, I checked my phone to see if Alex had called or texted me. Before I could even take my phone out, however, I heard Alex’s voice from behind me.
“Trisha, wait!” He shouted and I quickly turned, both thrilled and pleasantly surprised that Trisha was here when I thought she’d been busy. I looked over towards the door, only to see Trisha heading out of the door. She glanced back at me and I felt my heart stutter fearfully when I met her gaze. But then she turned away and left. I frowned in confusion, unsure as to what had just happened.
“Hey, Alex.” Ciara said from beside me and it all clicked into place. I had been set up, this had all been a trick. I looked over at Alex, disbelieving, but he just smiled and shrugged.
“You’re her best friend.” I said to him.
“I know, that’s why I have to stop her being with you.” He said. “You’re not right for her.”
“And you think you are?” I asked incredulously.
“I’m better for her than you are.” He said and I glared at him.
‘’You didn’t even thought about her feelings, you asshole!’’ I yelled.
‘’She gonna be hurt for a while but I’ll make her forget.’’ He said and I punched him.
‘’I would kill you if you weren’t her friend.’’ I said angrily.
‘’You’ll pay for that.’’ He said licking his now bleeding lip. ‘’Trisha was my woman to begin with, you won’t have her!’’ He said.
‘’We are in love and she’s happy with me! Not you but me.’’ I shot back.
I didn’t waste any more time arguing with that stupid asshole. I quickly paid for my drinks and ran out of the club after Trisha, desperate to find her and talk to her. Where to look? Right, left? After running for about ten minutes, I got back to the apartment. I considered knocking, because I already knew Trisha wouldn’t want to see me and it didn’t feel right just barging in. I knew she would be in my house, no doubt about it. But I had to talk to her and letting myself in was the only way that would happen. I quickly slid my key into the lock and opened the door cautiously, nervous as to what I’d find the other side of the door. The silence that greeted me was unnerving. I have to explain to her what happened. I don’t wanna lose her… Maybe she didn’t came back home? Then where is she?
“Trisha?” I called out shakily. I waited for a second and then a muffled sob reached my ears. At least she’s here. Hearing her cries was heart breaking and I wanted it to stop. I quickly made my way to the bedroom and knocked lightly before opening the door. The sight that met my eyes almost made me start crying. Trisha was lying face down on the bed, her face buried in a pillow as she cried. She looks so much like a thirteen year old heartbroken girl but I’m not the one at fault. I had been set up by Alex.
“We are over! I’m leaving!” She said in between sobs.
