"Get up Roni." Daisy says shaking my shoulder. "Okay fine but your going to be late." She adds.
I groan and roll out of bed. She's standing at the end of my bed with her hands on her hips. She's definitely nothing like her mother. Aunt June is kind and very quiet. Daisy is sassy and impatient. Her wild, curly blonde hair is surrounding her small head in what looks like an Afro. I start laughing at her appearance.
"Stop it I know." She pouts and tries to push down her curls. Aunt June has blonde curly hair too, but not as curly as Daisy's.
"Get out I have to get dressed." I say as I push her out of my small room. I throw on clothes with my eyes half-closed. I'm definitely not a morning person and apparently everyone is a morning person in New York. This will be a fun day.
I drag myself to the kitchen and lay on the tile floor. It's cold and it wakes me up a bit. I'm a strange person and I do strange things.
"Come on." Daisy says and kicks my butt.
"Okay." I mumble and grab my bag from the floor as I stand up.
We start to walk down the street and immediately I'm wide awake. The city is so alive and beautiful. It's pretty cold outside but that's only because it's October. When we arrive at our high school, Daisy walks away from me to see her friends. She is a Freshman and I'm a Senior this year.
I go straight to my first class, even though the bell doesn't ring for another 10 minutes. When I walk into my English class, there's only two people in here. Neither of them are the teacher. There's a girl sitting in the back and a boy sitting near the windows. I head towards the girl.
"Your the new girl right?" She asks.
"Um yeah?" I say unsure of how to answer. How did she already about me?
"Oh I'm Thalia." She says with a smile. Her face and shoulders are covered in freckles. Her light brown hair is pulled into twin buns on both sides of her head.
"I'm Roni." I say. More people start to walk in and take their seats across the room. A boy walks in and heads straight towards us. He sits in front of Thalia and smiles at her.
"Hey Thalia." He says with a smirk.
"Get lost Reggie." She rolls her eyes, pulling out a notebook. I decide to just follow what she does and pull out a notebook. He rolls his eyes back at her and takes out his own book.
"Are you going to art club tonight?" He asks her.
"Ugh no. I have to babysit." She pouts.
"Art club?" I ask, interested in the topic.
"Yeah you wanna join?" Reggie asks me.
"Oh I don't know." I shrug and write the date at the top of a page in my book.
"You should. The art room gets lit on Tuesday afternoons." He says and Thalia elbows him in the gut.
"He's an idiot. But you should totally join, it's really fun." She says.
"I'll think about it." I mumble and look at the board as the teacher starts to write the warm up.

"Come sit with us." Thalia tells me as I walk to the lunch room.
"Um okay, who's 'us'?" I ask as we enter.
"Just me, Reggie, Jade and Jade's girlfriend, Alex." She says as we approach a table. I see Reggie and a girl with dark green short hair. We sit at the table and I shyly smile before looking down.
"Who's this?" A voice asks. I look up to see a girl with reddish-brown hair and bangs sit next to the green-haired one. They hold hands and exchange a few words before turning back to me.
"Oh this is Roni. She's new." Thalia says. "Roni, this is Jade and Alex." She says pointing to each of them as she says their name.
"Where are we hanging out tonight?" Jade asks leaning her elbows on the table.
"Normal spot I guess?" Thalia shrugs.
"Nah the geeks decided they would study there after school." Reggie says rolling his eyes.
"Hey! Don't stereotype type people." Thalia says narrowing her eyes.
"But they are geeks!" He protests.
"They are." Alex agrees with a laugh. Thalia pouts and turns to me as if to say 'can you believe these people?'.
"Then we need a new spot." Jade says pulling her sleeves up to her elbows, exposing tattoos that cover her arms.
"We could use the roof of my building?" I suggest. "It has plants and stuff." I mumble. It's where my Aunt grows all of her vegetables. She's super organic but she doesn't care what me and Daisy eat.
"Okay that works I guess. Lead us there after school." Reggie says picking at his 'lunch' with a fork. The school lunches in New York aren't any better than they were in Arizona.
After lunch lunch was over, I went to my Photography class and then the day was over. I wait in front of the school for Thalia, Reggie, Jade and Alex. I also wait for Daisy because I'm not completely sure how to get home. Daisy comes out first.
"Hey I have some friends to wait for so I'll just follow close behind."
I tell her and she nods, walking away. Everyone else comes out like 30 seconds later."You ready?" I ask. They all either nod or say yeah. I start to walk down the street, keeping an eye on Daisy to make sure I'm not lost.
"So is your building far?" Reggie asks.
"No it's pretty close actually." I say and turn where I saw Daisy turn. I see her walk through the doors to our building and I smile.
"Right here." I say and we make our way to the elevator. We take it all the way to the top level and take the stairs to the roof. I haven't been on the roof yet but Aunt June said I'm welcome to come up here whenever I want. They throw their bags to the ground and walk up to the edge.
"Oh my God, look at this view!" Thalia exclaims, with a bright smile on her freckled face.
"It's so nice up here." Alex says with a cold breeze blowing her hair back.
"Yeah." I agree setting my bag down and walking to the edge. The building isn't very high, maybe 15 stories? The view is amazing despite the building not being very tall.
"I think we found our new hang out spot." Jade says and smiles at me.
"Yeah feel free to come up here whenever you want." I shrug.
"Awesome." Reggie says and looks at the street below us.
