Roni- We're over.

Dylan- what do you mean?

Roni- it's over, we're done.

Dylan- what? Why?

Can he be any more clueless? Why is he acting like this, he knows what he did.

Roni- you cheated on me you can't expect me to stay with you.

Dylan- let's just talk about it.

Roni- nope gotta go,

I lock my phone and put it on silent. I'm still sitting in the park with Shawn. He's staring at me waiting for me to say something.

"Well I'm single now." I shrug. He laughs a little.

"I'm gonna go home." I tell him and stand up. He stands up beside me and nods. We walk out of the park and most of the way back to my apartment. We have to take a taxi though because the walk is several miles.

"Bye Roni." He tells me.

"Bye Shawn." I say and walk into my building. I take the elevator up to my apartment and it takes forever. I don't think I've ever been in an elevator for so long. Why is this taking so long? I look at the floor number and it's at 4. It's not moving.

I frantically pull out my phone and call Shawn. I don't know why he's the first person I called.

"Shawn! Come back to my building!" I exclaim.

"What? Why? Are you okay?" He asks.

"No I'm stuck in the elevator!" I yell through the phone.

"Just press the emergency button." He tells me calmly. Why isn't he freaking out like I am?!

"Okay." I sigh heavily and press the button.

"Nothing's happening." I pout before a loud ringing starts to go off.

"Shawn I broke it!" I yell.

"Are you scared of elevators or something?" He asks.

"No! I'm stuck in one!" I yell and throw my hands into the air. The ringing stops and I release a sigh of relief.

The door opens and three guys and a woman are standing in the hallway.

"Sorry it stopped and I panicked, I don't know wh-" they stop me from ranting.

"It's fine the elevator is fixed, it was just a problem with the circuits, you can press your floor number and proceed." The woman says.

"I'll take the stairs." I say. I walk up many flights of stairs before I hear a quiet voice. I look behind me and there's no body there. I look down at my pocket and see my phone. It's Shawn. I never hung up.

"Hello?" I say still walking up the stairs.

"Where were you? I thought you died or something?" He tells me.

"Sorry some people helped me out of the elevator." I say as I reach my floor.

"Oh thank goodness." He sighs.

"Yeah you can stop worrying now." I laugh. He chuckles and we say our goodbyes.

When I get into the apartment my aunt is staring at me. I slowly put my book bag on the ground and walk over to her.

"You okay?" I ask with raised eyebrows.

"Why did you sign out of school?" She asks me.

"Oh did you know I could do that? That's so cool." I say smiling.

"Veronica." She says and pinches the bridge of her nose.

"What? Was I not supposed to?" I ask her.

"You can't just sign out of school. You are there for a reason." She shakes her head.

"But Shawn took me out for lunch." I protest.

"And it would have been fine if you went back after lunch." She argues.

"I got stuck in the elevator." I change the subject. She lets out a deep sigh and I just stare at her with a blank expression.

"Just don't sign out of school again without my permission." She says after about a minute of silence.

"Okay." I nod and go to my room. I was tempted to tell her she couldn't tell me what to do but she's basically my mom right now.

I start my homework as soon as I get to my room. I have a test tomorrow so I probably shouldn't have went out of school early but whatever. What's done is done.

Maybe the world will end tonight and I won't have to do this text tomorrow. That would be great. But then I'd have to say goodbye to everyone. That's a lot of people to say goodbye to. We've got my mom, my brother, my dad, aunt June, Daisy, Alex, Jade, Reggie, Thalia, Shawn, and I'd even give a quick farewell to Dylan.

I look at the clock and notice it's almost midnight. How did I sit here and get distracted for several hours? I have no idea why I do the things I do. I toss my notes into my bag and jump into bed.
