"Come on Roni. Your taking forever." Shawn groans from my bed.
I'm running around my room, trying to get ready to leave. I slept in too late. Our flight leaves in an hour and it takes an hour to drive to the airport.
"Okay I'm ready!" I say, running out of the bathroom with my toothbrush held between my teeth and my hands in my hair. I tie my hair into a messy loose ponytail and throw my toothbrush into my carry on bag.
"Let's go!" He says and helps me carry my suitcase out the door.
"Bye Aunt June! Love you!" I yell as I leave. I already said goodbye to Daisy last night. She spent the night at a friends house so she's not home right now.
We get to the airport just in time.
"Shawn wake up." I shake his shoulder lightly as they announce 15 minutes until the plane will land. It wasn't a long flight. An hour at most, but Shawn fell asleep immediately. His concert is tomorrow night so his manager advised him to get lots of rest.
We get off the plane and the first thing I see is a Tim Hortons in the airport.
"Oh my gosh, I feel so Canadian." I put my hands on my cheeks and look around at all the people. Shawn just laughs at me and grabs my hand. He leads me out of the airport and into a car. It's a black van.
"Why weren't there fans waiting for you at the airport?" I ask him.
"My management team made people think the plane was landing tomorrow morning." He frowns.
"I wish they would have just let fans come here. It's really not a trouble to take pictures." He looks down. You can tell he loves his fans but sometimes having a hundred people crowded together in an airport is a safety issue.
"You'll see fans at the concert." I shrug.
"Yeah I have an idea for that by the way." He smiles.
"What is it?"
"I'll tell you when we get to my house." He squeezes my hand in his and looks out the window. Canada is so beautiful, especially Toronto.
As we get into more suburban areas, the trees become more abundant and the buildings get smaller. We eventually park in front of a one story, brick home in a Suburban neighborhood. As we get out of the car, the cold air smacks me in the face. My hands fling up to my face to protect it from the freezing wind.
It's spring but Canada is still cold in March. Shawn grabs our bags out of the trunk and we head inside.
"Why is Canada so cold?" I ask him and rub my arms.
"New York is cold too." He laughs.
I don't respond, I only run into the warm house. The heating is on and I basically melt in the warm cozy house. Not only the temperature is warm but the houses interior design is very warm as well. The couch is a soft light brown. The walls are a light beige and there's a small brick fire place at the front of the room. The house isn't very big but it's wonderful.
"Shawn!" I hear as a girl runs out of the hallway. She jumps at Shawn and hugs his waist. His height of 6'2 makes it hard for her to hug him properly. She isn't short though.
"Hey Aaliyah." He says and puts one arm around her. His arms are filled with two duffle bags, a suitcase and a book bag so he can't really put his arms around her.
Shawn's mom walks around the corner with a coffee mug. A smile takes over her face and she sets the mug down on the table.
"Veronica!" She exclaims and engulfs me in a huge hug.
"Karen!" I match her excitement.
"Manual!" Shawn says as his dad comes into the room as well. He rolls his eyes and we all laugh.
"It's Manny." He sighs and gives me a small half-hug.
"We're gonna put our bags in my room, but we'll be right back!" Shawn says and grabs my hand once again. He leads me down the hall and into his room. It's pretty plain but fan art covers the walls.
"So we'll be here for a week and then we fly to Vancouver. Those are the only two Canada dates we have so after that we have Europe." Shawn explains as he sets our bags down on his bed.
"Awesome. I can't wait to go to Europe." I sigh happily. This is such an awesome opportunity. How did I find a famous singer and somehow fall in love with him and then start to date him.
"We have to go back to the living room, my mom is waiting." Shawn smiles. I nod.
We walk into the living room and it's empty.
"Kitchen!" We hear his mom, Karen, yell fro the other room.
Aaliyah, Manny and Karen are standing around the counter when we walk into the kitchen.
"I made muffins." Karen shrugs and points to the pan of muffins.
"Mom, you know I don't like them that much. The internet blew that way out of proportion." Shawn rolls his eyes.
"Maybe I didn't make them for you." She narrows her eyes jokingly. He laughs at his mother and I smile.
"You should probably just sleep. You don't have to socialize." Karen laughs. Manny and Aaliyah are already stuffing their faces with muffins.
"Thanks mom." Shawn sighs and kisses her cheek. He grabs my hand and pulls me into the hallway.
"But-" I protest pointing to his family.
"Shhh." I whispers and pushes me into the room. He closes the door and jumps under his blankets.
"I haven't slept in this bed in months. I've been sleeping in a New York City hotel." He says and smells his pillow. I figure because it smells like home.
"Hey, that's not my fault." I say and take off my boots and socks. I contemplate taking my jeans off but then decided against it. They aren't comfortable but I don't feel like changing. I throw my jacket on the floor and climb into bed next to Shawn.
He's already asleep when I get comfortable. How can one person sleep so much?
