Paper Airplane [s.m]

Fifteen

I wake up and my neck hurts. I reach my hand down to feel my pillow but it's not a pillow. It's Shawn's chest. I slowly raise my head to look at him. He's sleeping with one hand behind his head and the other around my waist. I shrug and lay back down.

I try to move closer to him but he moves. He only pulls me closer to him in his sleepy state. I smirk to myself. Oh my god what have I become. He opens his eyes and I want to pretend I'm sleeping but instead I just stare at him.

"Hey. I forgot to leave last night." He chuckles.

"I know." I smile.

"Don't you have school?" He says and looks at my alarm clock. It says 8:45 am. I curse under my breath before getting up.

"Eh they won't miss me." I say and plop back down. I lay my head back on his chest. You'd think it would be uncomfortable but it's the comfiest thing I've ever slept on.

"Roni you have to go to school." He laughs.

"I don't want to." I pout.

"Come on." He says and gets up, lifting me up with him. He picks out an outfit for me and even makes my coffee. I put on the skinny jeans and plain grey shirt before sipping my coffee in bed.

"It's time for school Roni." He says and grabs my hand. I can't help the butterflies that erupt in my stomach.

When we arrive at the school, I sign myself in and head to class. We are somehow still in first period so I take a seat next to Thalia.

"Hey how was the talk with Shawn?" She asks.

"Great. I found out my boyfriend was cheating on me and then I slept with Shawn." I explain.

"Oh my god, you slept with him?" She exclaims.

"Oh my god no I'm so sorry I didn't mean that. We fell asleep in the same bed is what I meant. That's all." I stutter, trying to explain myself.

"Okay well back to the main topic. I'm so so sorry Roni. If it makes you feel any better, we all hated Dylan. And now you're free for Sha- other people." She tells me.

"Oh I haven't broken up with him yet. He doesn't know that I know." I say and write down an equation.

"Are you kidding me? I'll tell him right now." Thalia says and grabs my phone. I protest but she won't give it back.

"No please don't I want to talk to him about it." I plead. I really do love Thalia but she's a pain in my ass.

"Fine." She rolls her eyes and looks back at the board in a pout.

I get a text from Shawn as I'm walking into the lunch room. I don't check it until I'm sitting down at the table.

Shawn- I hope you haven't eaten already.

Roni- what? Why?

Shawn- because I brought lunch, I'll be there in 5 min

I furrow my eyebrows and look around me. I can feel my cheeks heat up and I don't know why. I see Alex staring at me with a  raised eyebrow from across the table.

"She's here?" I say questioning what I just said.

"Oh my god goals." She says.

I don't even object her statement. I only give her a small smile and I look around. I don't see him. Maybe he's just trolling me or something. As I pull out my phone to text him I here a girl shriek,

"Shawn Mendes??" She yells. Multiple heads turn towards the door, including mine. Shawn's standing there smiling at the girls. He gets pictures with all of them and chats for a bit before looking around. His eyes find mine and he starts to walk towards our table.

"Hey." He says and hands me a brown bag.

"Hi." I say and reach out to hug him. He immediately accepts and wraps his arms around me.

"Goals." Alex whispers from behind us. Shawn chuckles into my ear. I feel the stares of everyone in the cafeteria. When I look around I see plenty of eyes on us.

"Shawn they're all staring." I say and look down. I don't like attention, I try to stay in the background mostly.

"I know, let's go." He takes my hand. It's a friendly gesture but my stomach erupts with butterflies.

He leads me out of the cafeteria and into the hallway. We walk down the hall to the main office. I'm confused about what he's doing. When we get to the front desk he points to the sign in and sign out sheet.

"Sign out." He tells me.

"Um I can't." I tell him.

"Yeah she can't do that." The lady tells him.

"Yes she can, she's 18." He says.

"Oh then she can do that." The lady nods.

"Okay I guess." I shrug and sign out on the blue sheet of paper.

We walk out of the building and I'm amazed. I didn't know you could sign yourself out if you are 18. Well guess who's getting out of school early when we have to do presentations.

"Let's go to the park." He says and calls a taxi. We get in and he tells the man to drive to Central Park.

It's beautiful when we get there. It's the beginning of November so most of the leaves have fallen. However, some of the red and orange leaves are still hanging from branches. It's beautiful. I love fall.

We pick a place on a hill and start to eat. He brought us fruit and a few pizza slices. We talk about random things for about 2 hours while enjoying the chilly weather.

"Have you told Dylan?" He asks. I knew he was going to ask I'm just not ready to answer.

"No I haven't. I just don't want to be the one to end it." I say and look down.

"Well it's either gonna be you or him. You should have the upper hand." He tells me.

"I'm going it right now." I say. I don't want to do it but I'll have to eventually and I want to be single again.

Roni- we're over.

"There it's done." I say and lock my phone.
