"Oh my god. She looks awful, what did you do to her?"

"Thanks Aunt June." I roll my eyes and walk down the hall to my room.

"She got really sick this morning." Shawn tells her.

"Well did you get her medicine?"

"No, we were leaving for the airport as soon as we woke up." He says.

"She goes to college in a week." My Aunt sighs.

"I knew this wasn't a good idea." She mumbles.

Shawn doesn't respond, or I don't hear him respond.

I get right intoned as soon as I enter my room. I fee like all I've done is sleep for days. How can a human sleep so much?

"Bye Veronica." I hear Shawn's voice as my eyelids get heavy.

. . .

"Hi! I'm Anastasia, but you can call me Ana." She smiles.

"Oh I'm Veronica, but you can call me Roni." I smile and put my duffle bag on the bed. Ana plops down on her bed and watches me unpack. Not in a creepy way, but a curious way.

"So is this your first year?" Ana asks me.

"Yeah, you?" I ask as I put my books onto the shelf.

"It's my second year." She says with a smile.

Her side of the room is covered in cute and creative decorations. Since it's fall time, she has little candle pumpkins on her nightstand and desk. A string of fake autumn leaves are strung along the top of her bed. White Christmas lights are strung along with the leaves.

"I love your decorations." I say and point to the leaves.

"Thank you, I love yours too." She laughs. I look at my side of the room. I laugh too. It's just a blank white wall and a bare mattress.

After I have everything set up, we sit down on her bed and play 20 questions. It was her idea to get to know each other better.

I take a good look at her now that we are sitting across from each other.

She has dark brown hair, tied in an enormous messy bun on top of her head. I can't tel how long it is but she has a lot of hair. She has big glasses with blue eyes. Her eyes are so pretty. It's like the ocean is trapped in her eyes. She has a pretty muscular frame. She's wearing Nike shorts and an NYU hoodie.

"What's your favorite color?" She asks me.

"Red, yours?"

"Purple. But not the dark purple, the pretty one. What is it? Lilac? Lavender? I don't know." She explains.

"Wow my answer was so boring." I laugh before asking my question.

"Do you have any siblings?"

"I have two older sisters." Ana tells me. "You?"

"I have a younger brother, Henry." I answer her.

"So are you single?" She asks before laughing at her question. "I swear I'm straight, I'm just curious." She snorts. Her snort makes us laugh harder.

"No I'm not single, I have a boyfriend." I smile.

"Ooh who?" She asks.

"Shawn Mendes." I say. She starts to giggle.

"But really, who is it?"

"Shawn." I laugh.

"Seriously?" She looks taken aback by my response.

"Yup, you can meet him when he moves here after the tour." I tell her.

"Wow." She sighs.

"Yeah, so do you have a favorite band?" I ask.

"I don't really listen to bands." She laughs. "I like your boyfriend's music though. And one direction. I forgot they were a band." She starts laughing. I laugh with her.

"How did you forget one direction was a band?" I say between bursts of laughter.

"Zayn." She says seriously.

"Too soon?" She says when we both stop laughing.

"This is going to be a great year." I point at her.

"I agree, what are you majoring in?"

"Literature, you?"

"I'm a dance major." She says with a shy smile.

"Well I need to see you dance." I tell her.

"You probably will at some point." She shrugs.

"Who's your favorite person?" I ask.

"Oh that's a hard one." She puts her hand under her chin and bites her tongue in thought.

"I'd have to go with myself." She says and smiles, throwing her hands into the air. "No, but seriously, I don't even know." She says as our laughter does down.

"Well just think about it. If you could be with one person when the world ends, who would it be?" I ask her.

"Dead or Alive?"

Her question surprised me but I guess it could be either. "Either?"

"My dad." She nods to her answer, as if agreeing with herself.

"Good answer, I just recently saw my dad after him being stationed somewhere for 8 years." I tell her. I feel bad telling her this because her father has obviously passed away. She doesn't get upset though.

"Really? That's amazing." She smiles.

"Oh my god." I look at the clock and see 3:00am in bright green digits.

We look to the window at the same time and see dark streets and car head lights.

"I didn't know it was so late." My eyes widen.

"I never stay up this late." She gasps. "I need to get to bed, I have a 9am class tomorrow." She flips her bedspread up and climbs underneath.

"Goodnight Ana." I chuckle.

"Goodnight Roni!" She calls before turning her bed side lamp off. I turn my lamp off and get into bed as well.

I don't have classes until Thursday, but I still need to sleep. After a while of trying to sleep, I can't. Being sick last week made me sleep all day and all night. I'm not tired at all. I pull out my phone and click on Shawn's name.

Roni- hey

Shawn- hey! How's college?

Roni- uneventful, my room mate is awesome though.

Shawn- it's a girl right? I read that you guys get co-ed rooms.
