Thirty-One

It's been a few months since my dad visited. He texts me all the time but he's currently living in Tokyo with my mom and my brother.

I see Shawn everyday. He's either walking me to and from school or laying in bed with me all day on the weekends. He goes on tour in exactly a month. He leaves on March 7th to go to Toronto.

He's laying on my floor right now. Jade and Alex are laying on my bed, talking to each other quietly. Aaron and his boyfriend Collin are sitting against the wall and talking quietly as well.

Thalia and Reggie are trying to do yoga poses on the floor.

"No hold my leg." He tells him and stretches her head back to meet her toes.

"I'm trying! It doesn't bend that way!" He protests.

"Yes.. it-ow-does." She winces and pushes her head back further. Suddenly her leg flys out of Reggie's hands and smacks into my face. I fall back and hold my face in pain.

"Owww." I whine and roll onto my stomach on the floor.

"Are you okay?" Shawn asks, placing a hand on my back.

"I'm fine." I say, my voice muffled in the carpet. I hear laughs erupt from across the room and soon the room is filled with laughter.

I raise my head and look at my friends. Everyone is laughing. Jade has to hold her stomach because she's laughing so hard. I frown and cross my arms.

"Oh my god." Aaron says and points at my face. I turn my head to the mirror and my jaw drops. A deep bruise is forming on my cheek bone.

"I have to go to school like this!" I scold Thalia.

"Sorry! I almost had the pose though, imma try again." She says and grabs her foot.

"No!" We all yell in unison and Reggie puts her foot back on the ground.

The laughter dies down and then we're all siting in silence. It gets kind of awkward after a while.

"We should go to the park." Alex suggests.

"Are you kidding?" I raise an eyebrow and point towards the window. Thick flakes of snow fall from the sky outside. Almost no cars are driving on the road and not many people are out there either.

"It's snowing." Collin says as if we don't see all the snow. Aaron punches his arm lightly and says, "they can see that you dork."

Collin shrugs and looks back up at me. Everyone is looking at me. I raise my eyebrows at them.

"We're waiting for an idea." Reggie says.

"Well don't look at me." I put my hands up in mock surrender.

"I have an idea!" Shawn announces.

"What?" I ask.

"I could have a little secret meet up and sing for a couple fans, it'll be fun." He smiles at his brilliant idea.

"Shawn." I start, sighing. "A couple fans? You have millions of fans."

"But not in New York." He says, pushing his idea.

"Your Radio City Music Hall show had 6 thousand people. And I'm sure more of them were outside of the stadium." I explain.

"But come onnnn. I could dm only a few people." He pouts.

"They'll probably tell their friends and then their friends will spread the word." Jade jumps into the conversation.

"Fine! Then you come up with something!" He exclaims and crosses his arms. I laugh and let my head fall into his shoulder. I wrap my arms around his torso and just stay there. I can literally see everyone go 'awe'. Me and Shawn have been dating for months, they should be used to it by now.

"You could always sing for us right here." Thalia shrugs.

"True." Alex agrees. Shawn nods but doesn't make any effort to sing.

"I want you to sing Roses." I tell him.

He sings the whole song and we all sit silently and listen. I will never get tired of hearing his voice. His talking voice is almost equally angelic as his singing voice.
