Chapter 15 | Private Plane

Twiggy was not of this world. I don't think so anyways. His movements were so fluid, unlike a human's. Everything he did was slow, thought out. Maybe he was just overly cautious and missing a few screws. With eyes as distilled as his, it's easy to take him as fucking crazy. I might be insane but I still have my wits about me. I'm not all too sure he does. As long as he does his job right, I don't give a fuck.

He was intrigued by death. The way he stared at the two dead bodies on the ground, it was chilling. Every once and awhile he was twitch. It would be rather sudden amongst his calmness. He's not ready for a jail cell. He's ready for a padded cell.

"Did you find Mike yet?" Ricky asked as he shut his phone.

"No, but something tells me we'll find him on our way out." Manson responded ominously.

They said they've lost him on the cameras. There are a few blind spots on the island but none I told him about. I hope he's alright. He should be chasing Vanessa right about now. Instead, she's close to getting out of here. We can't let that happen. Even if she survives, the public already believes her to be dead. She's nothing but a stripper in a shitty town. No one's going to care to investigate her death. As far as the rest of the world is concerned, she overdosed on heroine.

We gathered up what we needed, which wasn't much. I figured we'll use this place again in the future. Might as well leave some supplies here. For now, I have to go to Georgia for a mission. Why fucking Georgia? I have no clue. I'm used to rather exotic places like Berlin and Dubai. After mucking myself through this forest for the past few weeks and covering myself in blood tonight, the last thing I want to do is go to a place even more humid and dirty. I foresee a very long bath in my future.

When we all reached the dock, I wasn't surprised to find Vanessa had beat us there. She didn't seem horrified by us, not like the others were. Where she comes from, a group of freaks isn't too abnormal. She was the only one that managed to find one of the weapons hidden on the island. Only because I gave her a helpful hint. Regardless, she did have a gun. Vanessa threw it to the ground at my feet.

"Take it. It's empty anyways." She said somberly.

"There was one bullet in it when you found it." I replied.

"I know." She snit, "Bastard deserved it."

"You shot Mike?" Chris questioned, his eyes narrowing.

"He's not dead." Vanessa deadpanned, "Bullet went straight through. That fuckin', whatever the Hell he is because he's not human, he barely bled. It was just enough to slow him down. The deal was if I got to the other side of the island, I got to live."

There was something in her that I couldn't get angered with her. Not like the others. Maybe I just saw something in her that I once saw in myself.

"Tell us where Mike is, then we'll talk." I responded.

She pointed off towards one of the overgrown paths, "Somewhere that way."

"As far as the rest of the world is concerned, you overdosed last night and your body is on an autopsy table. After all you've seen here, we can't let you go free but we will let you live." Ricky told her. His eyes gazed over to the distant sound of a motor boat cutting through the water. "Devin and I have a plane to catch. I'll send another boat in an hour. Find Mike, take him and Vanessa back to the base. Make sure she doesn't see anything she's not supposed to."

"Go get yourselves some rest." I added as I began to walk down the dock with Ricky. Then I glanced over my shoulder, "And, Chris, please don't kill her. I kind of want her alive."

He rolled his eyes, "Fine."

I chuckled and looked back forward. The boat just reached the dock. Ricky offered me his hand to help me inside. I kissed his cheek as a thank you, then hopped in. It's going to be a long plane ride back to the states. At least I'll finally get some good sleep.
