~His Problems~

Irene's P.O.V.

Once I'm done changing Slater's towel, the one Mrs. Song placed on top of Slater's head, I immediately got down while carrying the bowl of water towards the kitchen. The water's getting warmer so it's a sign that I should really need to get some new, cold and fresh water, but before I could even go to their kitchen, I need to go to their living room and dining room first.

"Oh, come here dear, have some snacks" Mrs. Song said as she got the bowl from me and placed it on the sink, I just stared at her from afar since she told me to stay here. After a few minutes, Mrs. Song came back with a tray of cupcakes on her hands.

"You made these?" I asked her as she placed the tray on the table, it's a moist dark chocolate cupcake. I missed having these! Mrs. Song gave me one cupcake and she told me to eat it now.

"Hmm, it'd been a while since i've stopped baking, does it taste good?" I im immediately nod my head and started munching on the cupcakes more.

"It surely does, i'll take my culinary lessons with you" I said as I finished the cupcake, Mrs. Song laughed as she handed me a glass of cold water.

"Your mom might get offended" She laughed, as Mrs. Song also takes a cupcake from the tray and ate it. The atmosphere between the two of us are calm and soothing, the one where you know that it seems like you've known this person for so long? As we continued eating is suddenly saw a baby picture of a boy and it seems like it's Slater.

"He seems to be a cute boy though" Those words suddenly escaped from my mouth but I didn't noticed it at first, I just realized what I said when Mrs. Song also stared at the picture frame I saw, she's smiling but you can clearly realize that it's a sad smile.

"He really is, it's been a long time since I last saw him smiling" Mrs. Song said as she shooked her head, she must've remembered something about Slater which makes her sad.

"I'm sorry if I'm asking s very sensitive question, but... May I ask why he's acting like that?" As far as I'm concerned, well I'm not supposed to be. I wanted to know why, what's happening to him? Why did he suddenly turned into a dark person? What happened in his past which caused him to change?

"When was the last time you saw him happy?" Mrs. Song asked me as she held my hand, it comforts me though. I heaved a sigh as I tried to recall and remember when was the last time I saw him.

"A few days before their game last year, his team members are wondering why their team captain and point guard is missing. That time I tried contacting him but he won't answer, that day our school lost in the game" I answered, she gave me a slight and pained smile but she just kept on asking me some questions. I think it's somewhat related to Slater.

"When and where was the last time you saw him before you meet him this year?" She asked again, I stared at our hands and tried to remember the last time I saw him.

"It was the end of our classes, I just happened to visit the cheer leading room to check for other belongings my classmate left. Once I made sure that there's nothing left, locked the room and saw him playing basketball with himself. He tried shooting the ball but in the end neither one entered the ring, I wanted to ask him what's wrong but he just suddenly shouted and collasped on the ground" I answered, Mrs. Song heaved a sigh and leaned on her chair.

"A few days before your game last year" She uttered while she rubbed her nape and closed her eyes, I nod my head in instinct, answering her even through she's not asking anything.

"That's the day when Heather died, she was bubbly, beautiful and kind" Mrs. Song started explaining

"She actually reminds me of you. She's talented, smart and she makes me laugh.  She's a girl who always cheer me and Slater up when we're both down." She must me very important and special person in Slater's life.

"But sadly, she needed to leave"

"She needs to leave?" I furrowed my eyebrows, Mrs. Son looked at me with pained and watery eyes.

"She was diagnosed of Brain Tumor a year ago, she didn't dare to tell me nor Slater that she's sick. Her head started hurting a few months before your school's competition, Slater and I both noticed it but she only tells us that she's getting stressed from all the lessons she have in her school." In her school, she's not studying in our school.

"Then one day, we received a call. It was from Heather's phone, but a young female voice answered it, she was a nurse. Slater and I immedately went to the hospital only to find out that Heather is diagnosed of Brain Tumor. Slater's heart got broken when he found that out, he tried telling Heather to undergo operation so she could live but Heather refused."

"Until one day, Heather agreed. That was the day when your team lost in he championship, that was also the day when Heather arranged her papers to undergo the operation. That's why Slater didn't attend the basketball game, he decided to wait for Heather" Mrs. Son added

"But no one knew that Heather will permanently leave us once she lets go of Slater's hand. That was the day when Heather died, since then, Slater always blames himself that Heather died because of him. If he didn't force her to undergone the operation, she would still be here"

"Who is Heather in Slater's life?" I asked, Mrs. Song partially told me something about Heather, but she didn't specifically told me who she is in Slater's life. Who is she whib caused Slater to drastically change like this?

"She's Slater's ex-girlfriend"
