What are these things?

Last night before I went to bed I felt something, I thought it was a mosquito bite or maybe a spider, but I saw a bunch of little weird black flying things. I thought for sure it was just a dream, but I still see them right after waking up to my alarm. I must be going crazy, maybe I'll ask my mom about them....
I have to get ready for school my bus comes in thirty minutes, just enough time to shower and make breakfast. I take a pretty quick shower, bothered by the amount of little tar things around me. My mom is packing my dads lunch since he leaves for a business trip tonight, I smile at her grabbing some eggs from the fridge.
Once I finish cooking we sit at the table together, I can't start a normal conversation no matter how hard I try so I just go for it, "so um have you noticed the little flying tar bugs? They're like everywhere in the house."
She frowns, "honey did you get enough sleep?"
"Yeah I did, you seriously don't see them?" I even point at a group of them by the sink.
She starts to laugh, "it's way too early for jokes y/n."
I just nod feeling like an idiot, "yeah your right sorry mom."
Did I take any medicine that would make me hallucinate recently? I don't think so I haven't been sick.....
I see the bus pulling up and decide to just ignore the bugs for now, "see ya after school mom."
I wave before heading out the door, I run to the bus. My friend Miyuki is waiting for me in our usual seats at the back, I quickly plop down beside her.
"Hey girl! How was your chemistry homework?"
"Ugh don't even mention that horrid class," I laugh.
We discuss what work we have today and she tells me about how she plans on trying to meet her soulmate soon. They write notes to each other on the backs of their hands almost everyday, she's head over heels for some girl she hasn't even met. I don't know, to me that's not how love works even if your soulmates....
I glance at my own hands and arms which are still covered with my new drawings, I wonder what my soulmate thinks when they see these. Do they think I'm talented? Or maybe they think I'm a fool, then again do I really even want to know?
Miyuki pulls me from my thoughts as we reach the school building, she drags me to homeroom all the while I'm still daydreaming.
The day just seems to drag on, I haven't been able to pay attention in any of my classes, I'm too distracted by the tar bugs. I saw a strange little monkey thing running down the hall to, I tried to chase it. Miyuki grabbed me and started telling me I was going crazy. I just pretended to be messing around thankfully she and the others around me believed my lie.
The final bell rings, I run outside not even waiting to say bye to my friends. I see that weird monkey thing by the busses, it's trying to pull papers out of a kids backpack. I race over to it, it sees me and takes off. I chase it ignoring the weird looks I get from the people around me.
"Hey wait up! I just want to see what you are!" I start yelling at it. I'm running out of breath, and I'm on the complete other side of town from my house. I stop leaning up against a building, the creature keeps running not even casting me a backwards glance. I feel like a complete moron, I'm chasing something that apparently only I can see. Totally not crazy.
I start my long walk home, this is so fantastic. When I get home I have to look up what those things are! Someone else has to see them right?
I'm dripping with sweat my hoodie isn't helping, I don't even care about the scolding I'll receive when I get home I role my sleeves up exposing my drawings. I ended up making the pictures up to my shoulders, I actually like my designs so I'll probably leave them on for a couple days before drawing something else for me and my soulmate to see. I might even draw on my feet tonight if I get the chance, I prefer to make small little tattoos on my feet just for expression I guess.
I walk inside my house greeted by a screaming mother and a hoard of tar bugs.
"Y/n where have you been you were supposed to be home ages ago!"
"Mother I'm not a baby!" I groan.
"Just look at your arms! How do you expect to find your true love like that! And I don't care how old you are I told you to come right home your father leaves soon!"
"Whatever mother," I mumbled taking off for my room. I run up the flight of stairs two at a time and lock my door behind me. I need to be alone for a minute, can she just not treat me like I'm five for one day. I throw my backpack on my bed, I grab my laptop off my dresser and try to think of what to type in.
Strange little black bugs with tails, they're almost everywhere in various numbers.
I scroll through countless results finding absolutely nothing but different kinds of insects not matching the things flying around me. I sigh to myself, maybe if I try the monkey thing instead.
Weird little green and red monkey goblin looking creature.
The first few pages I look at come up with nothing other than photoshopped pictures, but then I find a picture of the thing I saw today I click on it. I'm taken to a weird website filled with all types of information, the creature is a hobogoblin and it's a demon? I didn't know demons were real.....how cool! Wait why am I the only one who can see them....
I scroll through more of the website, it's for some school, an exorcist school called True Cross Academy. I learn the little black things are called coal tars and most are low level demons, and I learn to see them one must revive a demon temptaint. It's like when a demon inflicts a wound on someone, then you see demons for the rest of your life. Most people with the ability become exorcists, my temptaint must have been one of those coal tars biting me. I find some contact information for the school and decide to write it down, just in case not that I'd actually consider it. I'll just pretend the demons aren't there, maybe try to tame one at some point, they are kinda cute. I sigh shutting my laptop, good thing I have a password if my parents found out I was looking up demons I'd be sent to the insane asylum for sure. I take off my socks and pull out my markers, if I knew anything about my soulmate I could draw a picture for them, but I don't so I draw for me instead. I look at the little coal tars flying around me, I decide to make a little group drawing of them around my ankle and a little happy one at the center of my other foot. Maybe my soulmate sees demons too, that would be kinda neat at least it'd be one thing we would share.
