Rin gives me a piggy back ride back to the hotel clinic, not once complaining about it the whole way. It only takes a few minutes for them to get my foot into a straight position and wrap it up, they don't have the special boot I'm going to have to wear for at least a few weeks. So for now I'm resigned to crutches, and careful movements. Getting used to crutches is honestly going to suck, I mean it shouldn't be too hard but still, it's not going to be fun.
I smile at everyone as I head to my room, Bon offers to help me I politely refuse wanting to do at least something on my own.
I almost fall, once, into a wall from going to fast on the crutches. I get to my room, mostly in one piece, I knock on the door and wait for Amaimon to hopefully answer.
As soon as he sees me a frown appears, "y/n what happened to you?"
"Oh nothing ya know the usual falling, spraining ankles, and cracking bones," I smile and make my way to the bed. I throw my crutches on the floor and pull my bag over to me.
"Did someone hurt you?" He questions as he slowly ventures toward me.
"Nah I just got tangled in some roots and well I landed the wrong way."
"You can not finish your mission can you?"
"Nope, I tried begging a little bit, but Yukio insists I do book work instead," I sigh shame taking over me, "I'm really not supposed to do much moving the next couple of days which sucks."
"That means you can entertain me."
"No it means I have to do work," I say matter of factly.
"Does this hurt?" He pokes the stuff wrapped around my ankle.
"Yes that hurts!" I growl slapping his hand away.
He glares at me, "Don't do that again."
"What this?" I smirk and slap his hand again a little less hard.
He grabs my wrist before I can pull my arm away, "I told you to stop!"
A slight anxiousness fills the pit of my stomach, yet I keep reminding myself it's Amaimon and I'm pretty sure he wouldn't hurt me.
Pretty sure.....
"Have you ever heard of a high five?" I change the subject, well sort of, I hope I can catch his curiosity and I actually do.
"A what?"
"It's called a high five, let go of my hand and I'll show you," I giggle a little bit at his obliviousness.
He surprisingly obeys and watches me curiously, "now what?"
"Okay so put your hand in the air like this," I position his hand just right and smack it with mine, "That's a high five, people usually do it to celebrate."
He looks like he's thinking that over, "why?"
I shrug, "who knows, people are weird."
I go back to what I was originally doing, trying to fish my phone back out of bag. I covered it up pretty good this time, so Amaimon would have less chance of finding it.
"Are you looking for this?" He holds my phone up in front of my face after I've taken half my stuff out of my bag.
"I told you to not go through my stuff!"
"I got bored," he shrugs as if that makes it okay.
I groan, it sounds like a mixture of I'm so done and why did you do that all in one noise, "can I have it back?"
"No."
"Give me my phone!" I wail.
"I want you to pay attention to me," he shoves the phone into his pocket. He sits on the bed beside me, after shoving all my stuff on the floor.
"What was that for!"
"You've been gone all day," he stares at me blankly, "I was bored, but I was good and stayed here."
I sigh, "I didn't know I was getting into a two sided deal for that."
"What can we do?" He ignores my statement.
"Did you not hear me? I'm not supposed to move around too much for a few days."
"That doesn't mean I couldn't carry you."
"You are not carrying me!" I cover my face with my hands, "why don't we just talk?"
"Talking isn't fun."
"Fine I'll make it into a game, then will you talk?"
"Depends, what kind of game?"
"Well I was thinking that we could ask each other questions about our life and every time we answer we get to pick a piece of candy or something to do later," I shrug.
"That sounds boring."
"It really does doesn't it?" I laugh having to agree.
"Let's go look around the town then, I bet there's a candy shop," He gets up.
"Hello can't walk remember?" I sigh.
"You don't need to," He crouches down in front of me his back to me, "Get on my back, I'll carry you."
"You can't be serious," I blush profusely at the thought of people seeing him carrying me through town. "I have crutches...." I mumble.
"You'll be slow!" He groans, "Get on or I'm just going to pick you up."
I sigh carefully crawling onto his back, I hook my arms gingerly around his neck. He holds my legs up and heads from the room, I feel so embarrassed!
Everyone else is either out, or resting in their rooms so at least none of my classmates will see me like this. The streets are pretty empty, not surprising since this town is so tiny, but Amaimon was right and there is a small bakery/candy store on the corner block.
"I found a little park here awhile ago, do you want to go?"
"Doesn't matter you pick," I take a quick glance at his face, I feel my heart speed up when he snickers noticing me studying him.
"I'm going to buy some snacks first, I'm hungry." We go into the little shop, it smells amazing inside like fresh baked cookies and cakes.
The counter is lined with cookie assortments and the display cases are filled with doughnuts and other pastries, and towards the wall is a bunch of shelves full of candy.
I wish there were places like this in the city, I mean there are a few but none of them feel as real as this one. The woman behind the counter is covered in flour, she looks almost joyous as she places a fresh tray of little cakes in the case. You don't see that in the city bakeries as much, there the workers are just waiting for the day to be over not actually enjoying the baking.
Amaimon examines the whole store, I think if he had enough money he would buy everything here, honestly though I probably would to.
He picks out a few things and pays for them, he shoves the small bag in his coat pocket careful to not let me slip in the process.
The woman behind the counter grins at us as we're heading out, "you two are just the cutest couple I've ever seen!"
"Oh really?" Amaimon smirks as he walks out the door, I lay my face on his shoulder to hide my red cheeks.
I start to see signs for the park after he walks a few more blocks, the signs look old and rusty. They probably haven't been replaced in years, then again it's such a small town everyone probably knows where the park is by now.
I see the small entrance right before we reach it, it's a pretty looking archway that's completely covered in vines with small colorful flowers sprouting from them. The main pathway is lined with trees and other plants, some have become overgrown and seep onto the pathway like waves hitting the beach shore trying so hard to climb the sand but always having to return to the ocean.
Amaimon turns down a branching trail, this trail is only dirt and not paved it leads to a small field with about six picnic tables and a tiny play ground. The tall trees cover the field in a leafy canopy nearly blocking out the sun, it's absolutely gorgeous to be honest.
He sets me at one of the tables careful not to bump my foot, he then sits across from me and pulls out his bag from the bakery and two sodas that I didn't even see him buy.
I look around in awe that such a place can exist in this world, it seems so peaceful so unrealistic that I almost want to pinch myself to see if I wake up. I come back to reality when I notice Amaimon shoving a soda in my direction, I watch with even more curiosity as he sets a napkin in front of me and fills it with cookies and a lollipop.
"What's all this for?" I glance at him just as he's popping open his soda, I know for a fact he doesn't like to share.
He shrugs in response, "I bought that stuff for you."
I nod looking down at my little napkin, this is actually quite like a picnic we're only missing the picnic basket and well a lot more food.
I open my soda and take a few sips, it has a sweet fruit punch taste to it almost. The cookies are delicious, they're double chocolate chunk and they must be pretty fresh because the chocolate is still all melted inside.
I finish my cookies and soda before popping the lollipop in my mouth, I look up to see Amaimon gazing up at the tree tops.
I smile to myself, if I weren't in my current state I would sneak up behind him to see if I could scare him. He must notice me staring because he turns his head so he can look at me instead, I quickly look away.
"Now what should we do?"
"Where do the other paths go?" I glance back at the trail we came up. There were two others like it and the main paved pathway that seemed to lead to a fountain of sorts.
"The one leads to a small lake, the other one goes to a small outlook where you can see most of the town, and the pathway goes to the fountain you saw and makes a circle," He frowns as if trying to remember every detail of each trail.
"Can you show me?" I ask a little excited until I remember he will be carrying me through all of them, "I mean if you want to..."
"It's not fun, but I will," he looks at me a small sparkle of curiosity in his eyes from my reaction.
"Thank you," I smile at the ground suddenly feeling shy again.
He lets me crawl back onto his back before taking to the trails again, I close my eyes resting my head on his shoulder, I listen to the rhythm of his footsteps hitting the ground as he walks.
This could almost be a date couldn't it...?
