My brother is making fun of me again, if I wouldn't be sent back to Gehenna I would fight him. I've noticed these weird pictures showing up on my flesh for awhile now, I did not understand what they were until Mephisto told me. He explained to me that I had a soulmate -I think that's what he called it- somewhere that is drawing these pictures on themselves. Apparently that means they show up on me too, and if I would write on myself it would show up on them. I don't quite understand the purpose, but my brother finds it to be amusing. He's asking to me show him the new pictures, well they aren't new I've had them for almost two days now, but I just told him about them. I know he won't stop annoying me till I show him, so I roll up the sleeves of my jacket and take off my green arm warmers. Last week it was animals this week my soulmate has drawn flowers and a tree of life, I don't mind the drawings. I actually find it sort of entertaining to watch them appear on my skin, though I have little interest beyond that.
"Those are so beautiful!" My brother grins, "we must find her!"
"Why?" I stare at him, he is making such a big deal of this though I just don't understand why.
"Amaimon, that is your soulmate! You two are destined to be together!"
"So?" I frown.
"We demons live forever we only get one chance to find our soulmates and make them ours. We don't know when we will find them it could be thousands of years, and here you have the chance to find yours and you have no interest what so ever." He sighs, "how can you be so careless towards this?"
I look at my arm and shrug, "I don't see how this is important, it doesn't seem very fun to hunt someone down because of a picture."
"I'm going to find your soulmate then, maybe once you realize their made for you you'll understand," he sighs again.
"If you insist."
"I must find a place to start looking, go amuse yourself away from my school," brother growls.
I nod slightly before leaping from his window out into the academy yard.
I'm beginning to find myself curious about this soulmate thing, why is one person more special than another? Does it mean they would be more entertaining than fighting with my little brother Rin?
Maybe I will look for this person without Mephisto knowing, wouldn't I have better chances of finding them anyway. How would I start to look....
I suppose I could walk around the cities, her arms would be covered in the same pictures as mine, that would be hard to miss. I head to the to the deeper part of the city, I hang from a street sign watching people walk by. A few give me weird looks, I don't care they're just humans. There's a school around other than my brothers perhaps they go there, I wonder if their around Rin's age.
I make my way towards the school in no hurry, I stop to buy candy and some other snacks on the way. School has not let out yet, I stand outside the main doors peering in. The halls are rather empty and dull, it looks so boring.
I pace around the building until I hear a bell, I see a rush of people running from the main doors. From those in short sleeved shirts I do not see any pictures, in fact I do not see anything at all on these humans arms. I was hoping to have an easy search, I guess I was wrong to think finding a soulmate would be easy. I make my way to the curb, I watch as people file onto busses and walk to stores.
Suddenly I feel someone be knocked into me, I attempt to catch myself but I can not find my balance. I fall onto hard concrete, a girl has fallen on top of me, I stare at her annoyed.
"I'm so sorry!" She squeaks. I try to decide if she sounds scared or anxious, it's too hard to tell so I settle on both. She stands up, she offers a hand out to me I assume to help me up.
I take her hand more so out of curiousness, she doesn't seem to know who I am. I guess I'm used to being around brother's school the students there are afraid of me, how odd to be away from that, and to be spoken to normally.
"Are you okay?" She looks at me, there's worry in her eyes.
"I'm fine," I say taking this chance to examine her features. She's shorter than me, and in a school uniform not much different than those at brother's school.
"Well, uh sorry again but I have to go," she quickly retreats away. I watch as she runs across the street to meet up with another girl with black and purple hair who is laughing at her.
I shake my head confused, humans are so very strange. I make my way around most of the city, more so out of boredom than having a purpose. On occasion I spot the strange girl and her friend walking up streets, I don't follow them though I have no reason to. I end up back at true cross sitting on the roof of the main building. I let my curiosity wonder about my soulmate, I wonder if they like sweets. Would they want to play with me? Can they even see demons? And if they knew who I was would they be afraid of me?
