One month later...
As the sun rose, casting its golden hues across the beautiful forest, the team assembled on the rooftop. Each member stood clad in a black-and-orange variant of the main suit, meticulously designed to combine protection and agility.
"Alright, it's time for your first crisis mission. This island we're on used to house soldiers during wartime. So, don't stress about damage. This is a chance to go all out and show your abilities."
Eager anticipation coursed through the team as they listened to her instructions.
"Your enemy? The four generals, the members of the Elite."
"You mean you and your friends, right?" Ray's hand shot up as he spoke.
"Yes, my friends. " Sapphire chuckled. "They will be your main obstacle; your mission is simple. Retrieve their hostage. "
"Wait, who's the hostage?" Ryan barely managed to speak before chaos erupted.
BOOOM!
A violent burst of purple energy erupted, sending them flying as a shockwave ripped through the air. A purple blur then streaked in, snatching Sapphire and vanishing. The team was left suspended in the clouds, stunned and disoriented.
"Great. Flying units, let's hold two at a time!" Jennifer commanded.
Alongside Dante and Michelle, they caught their teammates before landing in a dense jungle.
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
Ray looked down, his forearm shifting into a radar screen. An enemy is incoming.
"Guys, we gotta—"
BOOM!
Another massive blast rocked them, sending them rocketing through the forest, claw marks tearing through the trees!
Zoe slammed up ice chains, locking her and Max to the ground. Karla yanked Ryan mid-air with tendrils, dropping them into a tangled mess of leaves. Ray and Nichole hung upside down in a distant tree like stunned bats, while Dante, Jennifer, and Michelle hovered above.
"We good team? " Jennifer questioned.
"Yeah, just a little shaken up. " Ray muttered as Nichole used water whips to bring them to the ground. " And also, split up. What did that?"
"I think I got the answer. " Jennifer's flames burned hot, as her eyes locked onto the colossal cloud of smoke.
" Well, that's one hell of an entrance, innit? "
Amid the chaos, a dark-skinned woman with a bouncy afro laughed. In a yellow gi with a black belt, she bared jagged teeth and clawed fingers, yellow eyes locking onto Jennifer.
"And you are?" Michelle crossed her arms.
"I am Citrine, Master of the Beast Arts. One of the Glorious 4 Generals."
"Guys, we found a- " Jennifer reached for her coms, but before she could even press the button, a jolt of electricity coursed through her device!
BZZT!
"Nuh-uh, no one will interrupt us now." Citrine chuckled.
Elsewhere, Ray hit a hidden button, forming a nano hoverbike. He jumped on and sped up behind Jennifer and Michelle as Nichole slid in on a wave.
"We need to make a plan. " Nichole whispered to Jennifer.
"You'd better make that plan fast! Your hostage could be gone any minute now!" Citrine's keen ears picked up their whispers.
